I had these done by MM a while back...I do carry the 73 some but can't bring myself to use the 23, maybe someday...

A little pop quiz for you guy's....what's different on this 73 (beside the scales) from other 73's....look close.....

It's a Great Eastern stainless steel 440C blades ,and does not have a model number or year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????

I went with a Northfield,rather than a Tidioute,for my re-handle project,because I'll have a ""swedge blade""___better lookin' for the red stag !!

I'm thinkin' you had Kaleb remove the spey blade! They are both knock-outs, but the 73 is exceptional!

edit: I'm just wondering which knife to sacrifice for a similar project. The more I look at yours, Bob, the more I want one similar. Thanks for showin' 'em.

Well I should have known I couldn't fool you guy's...it was a 07 river green...I had MM remove the spey blade..this was before GEC
offered a single blade 73. About two month's latter they started making one...I told Kaleb they must have been watching...

That's some great looking stag...I've used Northfield's for a number of custom's...you'll have a sharp looking knife....

Barry it's hard to pick one to customize, most Northfields are too nice to mess with, thats why I use Tidioute most of the time.
I try to pick a handle material that I don't care for...that makes it easier. There were some Northfield's made in 08 that had some
odd colored bone...pumpkin I think that didn't look to great..JMO...also some wood handled one's that were pretty bland.
Anyway it's a tough choose...I found a Northfield in red wine bone...looked more like hot pink, so I didn't have problem having
it re-handled. It had long pulls and swedged blades...we used interior cut mammoth on it.

I was able to score a Conductor and a Weaver both in Mammoth Ivory.
I hadn't intended to buy a Weaver because I didn't like the pattern but I couldn't pass up the M.I.
They arrived today and I REALLY LIKE the Weaver.
I might buy one or two more Weavers in different handle materials.
By the way, the M.I. is gorgeous!

Just got this batch back from Knife & Gun Supplies where they do custom stabilization. This is interior mammoth ivory that was a little soft and "chalky", so the stabilization process makes it into usable handle material. Brings some possibilities to mind, eh? I have no idea, really, what this will come out looking like. Here's some from the last batch:Muskrat Man Knives did the handle work and also fixed a sloppy half-stop on this knife; crisp walk 'n' talk now. Thanks again, Kaleb!
