All About Pocket Knives

I'm gonna put this New York Knife Co, Hammer Brand 3-1/8" candle end serpentine jack here. Recent purchase off ebay. The scales are horn (they passed the hot needle test, smelled like burnt hair) Still a bit of the etch visible on the master. Very solid little knife.

Elephant Toenail or Sunfish Pattern--4 1/4 closed--Master has stamping Hammer Brand & New york Knife Co on secondary on back is pattern #2018--Light etching on Master of Hammer Brand---Does anyone have a Catalog Pic showing this knife?---Thx Mark

I don't have a catalog, but I do have J.Bruce Voyle's book on Antique Knives (Second Edition) and on page 240 your knife is shown with the pattern number 2018. The illustration is probably taken from an old catalog.

I tried to upload the picture from a scan but got the message that the extension wasn't allowed. I can tell you that the knife is identical to yours including the shield and the double pull.
