Not a very common shield on GEC knives. I believe most were on Tidioute models.

I believe your right 88...I've seen them on the 73's, 25 barlow's and I have one on a #12 toothpick in rosewood...all Tidioute's.

I got this Lockback,with a bomb shield,that was 1 of 3 produced---I think,sometimes ,they use left-over shields,from SFO runs ????

They used that "bomb" shield on the Bulldog 23 sized LB. Also on the Bulldog stag trapper based on the 25 frame. I wish Great Eastern would use more of the old style shields, like the heradic, propeller, and bomb. I notice they have the bar and a fillagree type shield now as well as the hourglass shape.

Well after reading the posts. I feel like we added a more collectable feather (shield) to GEC. Will they add that to their list of production?

Yeah Monk this one going in the pocket as soon as I put the right edge on her. It is my first congress and I like the way it feels, also I'm diggin the 440C steel blades.

Nice one! I'm really starting to like the acorn shield and 440C combination after carrying my Great Eastern Easy Open for a few days. I haven't purchased a GEC Congress yet.........hmmm...

Augustus I like that combo too, ( Acorn & 440C) I have been looking at the GEC easy open but I can't decide which one to get. Which one do you carry?

This is my only GEC with 440C and the Acorn shield. I just started carrying it recently.

Oh man, that is indeed some good stuff...ya think it'll be a toter or one for the vault?

Bought it to carry, but it looks so good. I need a good pocket sheath to separate it from my keys and other harmful debris roaming around my pockets.

Speaking of woodies, does anyone have an ebony Sunfish? Or know where one can be purchased?

According to the blog at TSA, GEC is going to raise the price of all the snakewood-handled knives.

The supplier on snakewood has gone up somewhat and they will not only raise the price a little but will run it like genuine stag and primitive (all serialized and fairly limited). The price increase will start with this new Hogan model, but the all serialized will start with the next variant.

They are nice when they are figured like snake, but there are plenty of them that are just wood. I would require that it be perfectly figured before I rated it above ebony or coco rose anyway.

Whoo EEEE!! Boy, am I lucky!! A friend was going to the Shotshow in Vegas and asked if I wanted him to look for anything. I showed him a picture of the ebony sunfish ............. Well, he returned to work today ............ WITH AN EBONY SUNFISH!!!!!! It was the display knife, no box (which is in the mail), and the only one left at the booth. I'm tickled pink to have it!!
