A very nice comparison picture of two big names in knives.
Rod Neep's website got me going again and when he showed the comparison picture of the seahorse and the original Rodgers Wharncliffe, well, I just had to have a seahorse too so I ordered a 2003 from Shepherd Hills, (also recommended by Rod.)

I now have about eight knives on order. I'm starting to scare myself.
Will post pictures when they arrive.

I even went on the Rodgers website but they don't seem to make Wharncliffes again.
So far I am resisting a very affordable Bulldog Wharncliffe in genuine ivory on Collector Knives, but Hukk's pictures are not helping at all.

I posted these once before, but here are a couple case classic wharncliff's. one is a regular production w/ mastadon ivory and the other is a 1 of 1 pre-prodution prototype.notice the shorter, slightly different blade. ps, you all have some really nice knives in this thread.

Wharncliffs have to be one of my favorites (I think I say that about all patterns.)

I met Al at the Oregon show three years ago, real nice guy. I asked him if I could spend a couple of days at his shop to try to learn the basics, he without hesitation said come on down. He lives about two hours from me, I still haven't made it! I think I have to many hobbies already.

Well, better late than never, my first wharncliffe, Bulldog stag 5th gen.
Thanks to Rod Neep and the guys on this thread for the inspiration, and Collector Knives for carrying such an affordable beauty.

I have a Bulldog Whittler, Thor model 4 1/8 inch with second cut stag coming. I got it DIRT CHEAP on ebay for $38.66 which I think is a steal for this in a carbon steel model. Should be here by Wednesday.

Try this link, we had a discussion about secound cut stag. Keep in mind that Bulldog can dye the second cut to look like Red Stag (I have a proto that never went into production of this) or to look like REAL STAG. There is a winterbottom stag in that link, but they can dye it brown. The one I bought looks exactly like yours. Here are some samples, you can see how second cut can be jigged and dyed, but I like real second cut.

Look at Charlie's second cut stag, that is quite nice, what Bulldog uses could more correctly be called bone stag.
Although mine looks like stag, my intent is to rehandle it with someting else.
