Good morning Folks ,

I dug out the Kinfolks premium stock and as you can see it is almost 4 inches closed. jigged bone and all blades have been honed.

All blades have excellent snap open and closing, no half stops or any blade wobble/side play.

I have also included another stamp to compare. I have a Kinfolks straight razor, but it has INCORPORATED where U.S.A. is on the others.

UPDATE: Sorry about the straight razor thing on a previous post here on this thread, I was thinking of Kane. I do not/can not keep up with who made what anymore, I just want to make sure they are right.

Thanks for posting those pics...yout Kinfolks stockman looks similar to the few other Kinfolks stockman and muskrat pocket knives that I have seen...same handles and same general appearance. There was one on Ebay very similar to yours not long ago and it went for about $175 IIRC.

As you state and as I have stated, it does not look like it was made by Case, so the origin is a mystery. Perhaps Kinfolks did make their own alipjoints. I have no idea, but Dean Case would have had the expertise to set up slipjoint production with his long background in cutlery.

If it is a contract knife made by another company for Kinfolks, its possible that it was made by Queen City/Queen Cutlery....in terms of the tooling, appearance, and bone color/jigging, that would be the best possibility that I can think of.

It looks & feels right, but there are some good mechanics out there and I can tell you have seen more knives than me.


I will pay more attention now to Queen jigging, not many Queen collectors around here. The one's that are, like the Winterbottom bone.
I have owned a few Queen City's and am familiar with the stamp. I do not see many this size either, I was hoping that may be a clue also.

I like to see/hold stuff in person and I did not want to go around telling Folks it was right, because I have never seen another 'Vintage' Kinfolks pocket knife only read about them.

Reckon I will put this one in the 'Right' box/roll with my other Real knives for now.
Then again.......I may slice one tomato for old times sake first.

All I Can Do Is

Ebay has a Bulldog made Kinfolks listed now, the Oystershell stockman, at least it is listed correctly. The starting bid is about what they cost.

This is not a Kinfolks, but one of 'Those' newer knives, built back in the Early Years of the 1990's. Tang stamped BRADFORD, PA, but etched GERMANY. That etch could be easily removed and a Crandall just ain't an old knife you run across every other week end.

Here is another 'newer' Kinfolks but stamped "Authorized Reproduction Stainless", never seen or heard of that on one before

I have also seen 'newer' HOLLEY tang stamped knives. Matter of fact; An antique dealer got a little PO'ed at me for telling him it was a modern knife he had on display & I thought he was a friend.
He had it priced at $175 bucks and knows nothing about vintage knives. Maybe he was mad at himself?

Folks, Hate to say it again but, BE WARNED with any of these old tang stamps/names when looking at or buying old/vintage knives.

The Kinfolks stainless is one of a series made by Queen but released by Parker in the 90's. Parker had knives marked Crandall, Standard, Platts, and Kinfolks made in the US by Queen and in Solingen by Olbertz.

And he had knives made in Solingen marked Holley, Northfield, Miller Brothers, Walkill, Cutwell and probably other old names. He was probably responsible for that Holley that you mentioned.

Perhaps the one marked as a Reproduction, is one that Case is putting out since reacquiring the brand from the Parkers?

No, that one is definitely one made by Queen - at least Parker DID have those marked reproduction....the tooling and detailing on that one is identical to a Queen #32 large congress and quite different from the look and detailing on the ones that Case has recently made. And I believe that the tang markings are different on the recent Case/Kinfolks releases.
