All About Pocket Knives

Winchester 1996 Seahorse Whittler, Butterscotch bone. 6 1/8 open, 3 5/8 closed. Great snap, action, transitions, pins, springs flush, solid lock up. My only Winchester made knife but it's no slouch. Can't tell how many kids/cub scouts have had a hold of this whittling sticks, marshmallow roasters, feather sticks, etc. This one has been well used and tested, still solid and barely shows the wear except for the worn blade etch. Perfect size and shape for my hand anyway.

I love me some big whittlers. The small ones are to hard for my big mitts to use. Here are mine.

Two Western 4 inch saber ground main blades. The first one is well used but still tight and snappy.

German Crandall 3 7/8 inches sheep's foot main, swell center. This one is real thin and a joy to carry. Great half stops too.

This little gec is my wife's favorite. She uses the small clip to get out splinters.

Craftsman 4 inch with Delrin.

C. Platts and sons Case Classic. 4.25 inches. I love this knife!

Thanks! I like it a lot. Matter of fact I'm toting it today. Those blades are thin, and man do they get wicked.

Very fine knives here. I really like those Westerns, Colonel. And the Winchester too, Ivoryman.

Here is a Bulldog that I like.

Schatt & Morgan 2004 Split Back Whittler, Keystone series, Sheep foot, clip, coping. 3 1/8 closed, 5 3/4 open, red bone. Very smooth, nice action, medium snap, but good solid lock up, no wobble. Great knife. It came with a point on the spine of the coping blade where it angles down to the point. The spine point was so sharp as to make it uncomfortable to hold tight on it's own, let alone cutting something, or whittling for an few hours. Just got it, no whittling yet, just carry and check out today. But the coping blade point was so sharp when closed that I HAD to grind it down to a nice round profile. You can see the before and after in the photos. Every now and then I find a good knife but it has to be altered to make it just right.

Here are six whittlers in my favorite body shape and size. Left side: Coles, Case Classic, Case. Right side: GEC, Bulldog, Fight'n Rooster.

Thanks Dinadan! I'm awful partial to the Westerns. That's my brand of choice, these two are real tanks too.

2003 Case Seahorse Whittler Abalone, Wharncliffe, coping, pen. Everything is right, solid, flush, even, shiny, pretty, fancy. Not my usual type of knife but looks pretty, puts the 2014 Caramel Bone "as ground" in it's place. The workhorse and the shelf queen.

There are some mighty fine knives being shown here. I'm a bit partial to whittlers too. My thanks to Gino for the Boker (2015 POS exchange). My thanks to Tommy (Carrmillus) for the pre-war Camillus. My thanks to Robert for trading the three spring Case to me.

Jerry - Some good whittlers there. I really like that Camillus!

Thanks for showing us some old beauties, love the pre-War stuff, Camillus, and the rest. Very nice blades.

I had to dig for mine; I hope others will too.

I think I only have four whittlers, but they're nice whittlers.
