QS those eastern Rufus sided towhees are beautiful birds and will put a show on when they get to scratching
and kicking around looking food. Glad you got some visiting I've got at least 3 pair coming around daily.
You fellers have heard of a Mexican stand off well this is a murder standoff. Big hairy on the pole and a pretty little sparrow getting some popcorn.

Very enjoyable photos bighomer. I just saw the visiting Tohee a few minutes ago. My efforts today were directed towards keeping the Mourning Doves from eating me out of house and home.

Nice shots, Homer. I like seeing the photos too, though I have been a bit remiss in posting my own. I have been having a good number of birds in my garden over the past few days. Here are some photos from the last two weeks. I spotted this immature Bald Eagle from my driveway a few days ago. The Chickadees are just perfect little birds! Kinglets are anothe of my favorites. One thing that I hate about getting old is that I cannot hear their fussy little chatter as they go about their business. When I was young they were never silent: now I never hear them. We have lot of these fellows! This Eastern Bluebird makes a nice contrast to the kumquats in the tree behind him.

Great photos Mel, I agree with QS on the bluebird. Speaking of which I haven't seen a bluebird this winter
They usually stay through the winter here. I had a group of them last winter and had several pair raise this past summer, I wonder where they are here's photos I took last winter of them

I envy you your abundant Bluebirds, bighomer. I've never had even one.

Well, at least I can relish my single Towhee.

Thanks, QS and Homer. Those are some cool Bluebird photos, Homer. There is usually a Bluebird or two in my neighborhood. QS, Towhees are one of my favorite birds. Occasionally a pair will move into the brushy area behind my garden. But they never last long. I think there are just too many cats for a bird with the Towhee's ground feeding habit to survive. Nice photos!

Not really many birds around here although I keep food out for them.

There is a new playground right in front of our house though and they have planted 8 trees & some bushes there so I have hopes that as the trees & bushes grow, the number of birds in the area should increase at least a little bit. Just have to stop my dogs from barking at the kids all the time.

Here are some pictures of a couple of my little pals that I took over the last few weeks.

A Dark Eyed Junco and another sparrow I can not name. Chipping Sparrow comes to mind but I don't really know.

The lighting on the sparrow is just about perfect. You even got the reflected light [a bright dot] in the sparrow's eye. That is something that pro photographers are always after.

Love seeing all the pictures. Dang sparrows have become bullies at my feeders. And they’re messy eaters. Juncos and squirrels do patrol what the sparrows kick out.
