Nope, it's news to me ! I have basically stuck to collecting "tactical" style knives, Kershaws, CRKT, and such. My only slip joints have been older (cheaper) bone handled knives. As of now, I'm trying to decide if I want to chase new Case knives, or H&R, German Bull, or Buck Creek. I'm trying to stay away from oriental builds, but it's hard when the maker doesn't come right out and mark the blade, so I don't know if even this H&R is from Germany or the far east ! ::facepalm:: It's a learning experience ...

Gotcha'. I don't have a lot of tactical knives, but the ones I do have are all Kershaw. I like their designs, and I can afford them! That second part is very important!. A general rule of thumb is , if it doesn't say the country of origin on it, it probably isn't made in the USA, Germany, England, and such. They are usually proud to put it on there if it's made there, as it's a selling point for many people. This isn't always the rule, but I have found it to be true most of the time, especially the US made product..

A tale of two Buck Creek Whittlers ...

The stag version has decent fit / finish compared to the red pick bone knife, it's obvious they didn't come off the same assembly line. Both have strong snap and good edges, and the stag handles look great, whereas the red pick bone scales don't even match each other. I guess it's hit or miss when it comes to country of origin, no matter what the seller claims. ::facepalm::

Got these two in with intention of selling them but as usual having a hard time letting go.
First is a Rigid made in Germany in 1989 or 1990. Made by the folks that made Bulldogs and Frank Buster Fighten Roosters. It looks and feels like a Bulldog. I love the stag on this one.
The second one is an A.G. Russell Seki Japan made Cartridge Series. Micarta handles. There is some pitting or markings on the bolsters that I thought was residue from tape, but it won’t come off with Simichrome. Some of this marking is also on the cartridge shield, making me think it was something that laid across it. This is a solid knife with a thick blade. Solid lock up and feels great in hand. I can’t find any information on this one so it’s a head scratcher. If anyone has any information on this, it would be appreciated.
Thanks to Gary Kennedy for help on the history of the Rigid Germany knife.

A stunning pair Mark! ::tu:: The stag is outstanding, but the style of the Cartridge is right up my alley! I don't know where you muster the will power to part with some of your knives, I know I couldn't! Congratulations on 2 very nice pieces! ::handshake:: 8)

Thanks Mark, We can talk about making this A.G. R knife yours if you like? I just don’t know if this is a 100 dollar knife or one of those rare ones that runs 150 to 200, just can’t find information on it.

The next Barlow is a Colonial with wood handles. Blades look to never been on a stone, and the master Spear Point blade has a reproduction of the Arched Colonial tang stamp. Blades are 440 Stainless.

Just received this one in today's mail, and couldn't wait to show you guys! It's a Mcusta Bamboo designed linerlock, and it has a VG-10 drop-point blade with dual-studs, 33 layer Damascus stainless steel body in the shape of a split piece of bamboo, single SS liner, adjustable blue anodized pivot, and screw construction. Weighs-in at 3.3 oz.'s, and is one of the sharpest knives I've ever encountered. It displays Mcusta markings, and was hand-made in Seki, Japan. All Mcusta's are built with oiled-washers that make for very smooth opening/closing, and the fit n' finish is close to perfect. Just handling this knife has got my juices flowing about acquiring the 8" model, although with the difference in price I'll need to wait for the price to come down a little. Lots of fun playing with this one! 8)

Congratulations Marco. This is surely one of the most recognizable and beautiful patterns in the Mcusta line up.

This one showed up in my mailbox today. Hen & Rooster Mini-Trapper is very lightly used and a little on the drab side but it is genuine deer stag handles.

The mail box had a few things in it wasn’t expecting till Friday or Saturday !
A couple of 72 Clones. The Power Kraft 84-11 got from our fellow member Treefarmer, in a trade . And he slid this old long line 72 in to boot . Thanks Philip, think I’ll make a Frankenstein or letter opener out of it.
The Ulster ,no model # or shield will go with the clones as well . That also came from a fellow member.
Good to see the mail is getting thru again , a lot of good stuff you all been receiving ::tu::.
Take care out there ,happy hunting !
