They sure are; I don't own a single CASE fixed blade; the chrome plating kinda throws me. Just me, I know. I see some of the old ones but balk at the price when they are in extra pretty condition. I am partial to the Ruanas too; I might have a couple of them. You have a great collection, Mr. Kennedy; Some great images you posted earlier, also (Randalls & Ruanas & CASES, oh my!).

They don't get any more rugged than this Cold Steel. No handle slabs to break, only olive paracord on a high carbon blade. I think I remember buying this at a gunshow back in the early 1990s for less than $20, did not come with a sheath. If I remember correctly, Cold Steel marketed this as a throwing knife, but with a nylon sheath I picked up at our local military store, it makes a fine all around knife. This one at the time was USA made, later versions were imported.

My Marine son broke the kabar I got him, so I gave him one of those. So far he hasn't broken it.

The true test of a knife's quality, give it to a Jarhead.
Sending a big ole Semper Fi his way.
For quite some time, I've been interested in a Ka-Bar Warthog fixed blade. Willie (Owd Wullie) has one and I contacted him, inquiring about it. This is what he sent back:
"Hey Jerry,
I still have it, but you don't want it. It's a piece of crap. Blade chipped out chopping the rib cage of a white tail. Ka-Bar said if I wanted to return it at my expense, they would look at it. May re-profile it at some point but I'm not impressed by the knife or the company any more."

The sheath is just killer. It has a military look to it.
After seeing what happened to Willie's Warthog, I would hesitate to use it. What am I saying? Warthog or no Warthog, I'll never use it anyway.

Picked up this shell handled Imperial. Cheapy knife but I bought one just like it back about 1972.
It was my first fixed blade, and I remember buying it with paper route money at Fox Hardware in Penacook NH. They were one of those old creaky floor stores and I doubt they're still around. No idea what ever happened to my original.

It might be an old cheapy Ken.....but it's cool old cheapy! I had one too, they did the job.
Love those ol' creaky floor hardware stores...we still have one left in the neighborhood.

Well surprise, it is still there although the buildings that were on either side are gone.
