Ok so I've had this little Schrade for a while but today I felt like it needed to get out of my show case & into my pocket for a while. It's my newest addition to my EDC's so I hope nobody minds me posting it here even if I have had it for a while. It's the only Schrade I have other than a Shaplieh Hardware DE. I took some "Fresh Off the Press" pictures of it & here they are. Hope you enjoy the pictures & thanks for looking!

Thanks for the kind words regarding my two Alberta Schrades. I like those COPE12 knives a lot too. Small enough that it's not a pocket-buster. Lookin' good in that black delrin. Sharp as a razor (if that's what you're after) with it's 1095 carbon steel. When I dip, I dip Copenhagen.

In case you weren't aware, here are the stats on it.

COPE12 - 12OT pattern w/ black sawcut Delrin handles, brass bolsters, antiqued brass shield, "SCHRADE / COPE UST" tangstamp, Copenhagen blade etch, Ship 1/2 by 1/15/94 - 50,000 pcs.

This morning I landed a 3" closed Ducks Unlimited Greenwing 3OT. Green WondaWood handles, brass shield and bolsters.

Looks like it should clean up nice. I like the tiny belt sheath that matches the knife.

Great pics TPK, especially like the creativity of that compass and nails shot. You must be a Mason of the 33rd degree. Cool shot and great score on the Schrade.

Schrade USA SQ424 "Nitro Cobalt Blue". I bought this because it was very cheap, less than $20. It's never been used or carried. And it's gonna stay that way, and be moved into the collection. My finger likes to slide off the finger choil into the sharpened edge, and the clip digs into my hand.The thumb stud is machined really sharp.

I am hoping to find either a ca. $20 Lake and Walker as my OHO Schrade USA EDC. So far, I guess my 55OT will work as my Schrade USA one-hand opener; CH-7 for the dirty jobs since it's a cheap knife on the secondary market. How's the 43OT? Well, other than the same plastic thumb stud problem that plagues the CH-7 in that it tends to fall out (but I personally don't have that issue, even with my secondhand CH-3 that was bought used, and looks like crap). I know Schrade did eventually fix that by going to metal studs on both models.

You have mention a 55OT, Schrade made a 55UH, however they did not make a 55OT.
Maybe you could post a photo of your "55OT"
I hope you can find a Lake & Walker, they are a good knife... Ken

Here is a 55OT

To be completely accurate, the knife in question is a 55OTG. All of the green handled Bruin and Bearhead models had the "G" suffix in their model numbers. Both the 55OTG "Bruin Ext" and the smaller 53OTG "Bearhead Ext" were listed as "new" in 2002 and were subsequently listed in 2003 and 2004. They have a chisel grind.

As I said: "Schrade did not make a 55OT"
It looks like some collectors, did not know this fact.
The original 5OT was a Lock-Back, and the 55UH* was a Line-Locker.
As well stated by bladecollectorr, Schrade made a 55OTG and a 53OTG - both of these knives are Line Lockers.

Note*, The 55UH was a special run exclusively for Wal-Mart in 2002 and sold exclusively by them.
The 55UH does not appear in any Schrade line catalogues.

This 55UH does not appear to be a lockback. It appears to have a linerlock. It also does not have a thumb stud.

Your too quick for me Cal. I have just fixed that.
I had a hard time finding a 55UH without a crack near the brass hold in the handle.
I see your 55UH has the crack in the handle...Ken

Maybe some one has a Schrade price list, I have not seen.
I can not find a 55OT listed by Schrade from 1935 - 2004.

I bought a 94OT to use. The blades show quite a bit of wear. The main blade has a little bit of wobble; spey blade bad. Thinking it will get pared down to being a one-blade at one point. But, it's gonna be a user. No sentimental value, and not a whole lot of monetary value as it sits. There's just something about these mid-size Trappers. More reasonable size than the full-size, yet feels like more of a full-size knife than the (infamous) Mini Trapper. I can't wait until my 96OT shows up tomorrow or Monday.

Yep, that's it. Mine's currently put away at present.

Honestly, I think it might have sold better if they left it a lockback, and gave it a pocket clip. And then it's mentioned it is chisel-ground. Someone apparently hated it and reprofiled it to a V grind on mine. Chisel grinds are good for knives with very specific purposes (i.e. grafting and marking knives), but not EDC folders.

The chisel grind was done so that the thumb stud would stick out straight. If they had done the normal flat grind the stud would tilt downward. Not sure why they didn't just saber grind it like the LB7. This would have left a flat area for the stud. Perhaps it wouldn't have worked for this blade, or would have taken a lot of extra prep.

PS - Ken they definitely made the 55OT as you can see on the tang. Any letters that fall after the "OT" on the paperwork just signifies that it was a non-standard handle (or some other object) on a standard model (not an SFO). There was the 5OTG back in '91 that had green handles, still a 5OT. There was also the 8OTY in '90 that had yellow handles, the 15OTO that had orange handles, the 96OTS that came with a sheath, and the 152OTO and 158OTO both of which had orange handles. All of these knives were still Old Timers specific to their corresponding numbers.

My latest is a ('80s?) black sheath for my "Cutty Sark" SC509 Little Finger. It seemed lonely on display without one.
