I found myself another 123OT....
I don't think I will even try to clean up this blade.... I will just stick a new blade in it.

Several years ago I found a Schrade Cut Co large jack with different era bone on each side, pretty well thought it was a one off anomaly. Imagine my surprise when one of my vintage knife friends, Roger Cunningham, offered me a Cut Co sheepsfoot jack with 2 different era covers on it.
It's in high condition and has early pick bone and early peach seed bone, interesting in that the pick bone side has 4 pins and the peach seed has 3, the liner on the peach seed side is drilled for a 4th pin.
Now there are 2 known examples I wonder why they are like this, factory prototypes, salesman sample, factory repair, probably will never know.

Very cool John! I have this SCC Jack (pattern 2271) with pick bone and peach seed handles. Much more heavily worn and used than your pristine examples but nonetheless illustrative of this phenomenon. You have peach seed and pick bone and also peach seed and divot bone. Interestingly the divot bone came after the pick bone but before the peach seed. I think this is generally well accepted. Anyway here is my example. By the way my theory is they were just using up handle inventory until all production revolved to peach seed. I think this transition occurred in relatively fast order since you don’t see a lot of examples (at least I haven’t) with two different jigged handle panels.

If anyone else has an example please post some photos—thanks!

Great to see another Lloyd, thank you. Your explanation is as good as any other I can come up with, I wonder why on the sheepsfoot they decided to only use 3 pins on the peach seed side even though the liner is drilled for 4.

I have other Schrades with more holes in the liners than there are pins.

My latest finds were a Keen Kutter said to have been made by Schrade and a Copenhagen 12ot both have been avoiding me for years
What does th SW Cut USA on the Keen Kutter tang stand for?

SW Cut stands for Schrade Walden Cutlery. It's a newer knife (1980s most likely) which is made to be an homage to the older Schrade Walden and Keen Kutter knives of the 1960s and earlier.

That Keen Kutter was an 1869 to 1969 commemorative, marketed by Schrade, and made by Camillus. Or so I have heard. Could be wrong. Schrade did make some Keen Kutters themselves, and may have owned the trademark by that time. I have one 881Y Keen Kutter, made in the late 1950s or maybe up until 1961, with celluloid covers, definitely made in-house by Schrade Walden.

I’ve found one of these in the past year that was priced right and in decent shape. I have also found some individual parts for them (other than the spring). So my plan is to make a few springs using the one I have as a template. And to assemble a few from parts.
They’re a nice little knife!
