Doing some remodeling in the kitchen, and with carpenters who abuse their knives, I prefer to leave my good traditionals in my room. But, when I got in, I carried this little Imperial/Apex "Barlow". It's not really a Barlow in that it's not exactly the same frame.
Work carry: Leatherman Surge, Kobalt utility knife, Gerber USA US-1. The US-1 ain't no Magnum LST nor does it come close, but it gets the work done.

A bunch of nice knives shown by all you fellas and that Crucible scout of yours really appeals to me Tony.

The #14 is awfully nice as well.
I had these two along with me today. Osage moose and elk S&M #69 single spear blade.

No idea what happened to my post from last night. The post is gone but the saved draft is restored somehow.
Here goes take 2...
Ivoryman wrote:Incredible Crucible bones Bomba. AAPK pretty sweet too. Made me want to carry some old pretty bones today too. Thanks.
doglegg wrote:Great bones and matching shields gentlemen. Great looking knives.

Thanks, gents! Someone had mentioned that warm caramel coloring of old pocketknife bones and it's had me digging around the pile for some old HOKs to tote this week.
That cigar jack is incredible, I-man. Great old bones and nice full blades, it just exudes character and class.

Your user pile is probably more desirable than the contents of my safe.

BatJak, is that the 8OT with the long 89OT-length plain-edge sheepsfoot blade? Great (and super useful) twist on a classic knife.
J1890 wrote:I think the Voos has some pretty sweet bone!
Voos sure has become synonymous with that sweet Rogers bone barehead jack. I have tried to acquire nearly every one I've come across. Minty examples are fetching beaucoups bucks!

Very cool Al Mar, QS. I was late to that game and still haven't found one at the right price (yet).
DM11 wrote:Schratcliff and a Rope knife
I have but two post-Walden muskrats - one 77OT and one 787 - which are both users but with full blades and great W&T. After my experiences with the Case Ratcliffe I am seriously considering sending one (probably the OT) to Dr. Lansky's laboratory to be Schratcliffed. Temptation is lurking everywhere!
geocash wrote:I believe this Boker dates from about 1953 to 1975.
Nice old Barlow, sir. How do you date the Bokers that are just stamped with the pattern number?
Quick Steel wrote:
Is that a 99? Besides the Whaler, I have only one 99 - an early 70s yeller one that is minty with the exception of slightly-shrinkydink handles. One day I'm gonna get up the nerve to tote it.

Incredible peachseed bone on that Schrade, David! The 72 is no slouch either.

Great bones on that big boy. Come to think of it, I don't think I have a single stock knife from the UK. I need to remedy that.

Thanks, sunknife! The S&M is a real beauty too. Normally I prefer a Barlow on the 69 frame but that jack calls to me.
Since the forum apparently ate my last post, here are the last two days of carries: Trestle Pine Grand Portage and GEC 97 yesterday, Western States teardrop and Wolfertz Barlow today.

Good question, Tony, & I have a pathetic answer so I'm glad I put "I believe" in there. I believe (there it is, again) Boker USA started switching to steel liners from brass in 1953. I thought the liners looked like steel yesterday but today I think they are brass. So much for the 1953 date, & I guess my 1975 date deserves questioning, too, now that I think about it. I believe Boker USA began using 2 handle pins rather than 3 around 1972 & all the 493s had just 2 pins by 1975, but maybe the number of handle pins doesn't include the spring pin, which I did count. I'm pretty sure it's a Barlow, though.
I don't have any idea of the dates on either of these:

It is an 89OT with serrated sheepfoot which is no longer serrated

I- man the tactical is an Eafengrow knife probably from China, blade is on ball bearings some more slick opening, D2 steel some more sharp out of the box. My other modern type knives are setting in the old tool box since I got this one. It was a Christmas present from my son ,I really like it
