Early Remington UMC cracked ice handles with Sister Noel etched in the handle .

You had a couple of good responses to your query about the Crucible scout shortly after you posted it. Peanut740 knows scout knives and he told you the approximate value and the likely maker of the knife. Was there something in particular besides this that you are trying to find out ?

I can get some movement out of it but I would not depend on this thing to find my way home!

You gents are showing some very nice, vintage Scout knives. This Buck 422 is modern by those standards, but I believe this may have been the first BuckLite issued (made for the 1983 BSA NOAC, the first BuckLite was introduced in 1984). Even the name "BuckLite" suggests very early production, as it predates the "ScoutLite" name that Buck applied to all later official BSA models (which had their own model numbers as well). Found it NOS, missing the nylon sheath, at a pawn shop in early January. OH

Nice find OH, I guess I need to start spending some more time in pawn shops. I believe you are correct about the dating and subsequent models that the BSA issued. The Boy Scout "Scoutlite" (1985-1988) models were based on the Buck #412 and the Cub Scout "Cublite" (1986-1988) based on the Buck #414. I have not see the knife you posted - if you ever want to sell or trade please keep me in mind. I'm a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow and finding knives with OA designations is difficult to say the least.

It was rumored that BSA National wanted to maintain a non-demoninational religious orientation and BSA wanted Buck to stop including their message about Christianity with the knives. Based on the BSA posture Buck discontinued the line in 1988.
