Went to the mailbox today and found an envelope and letter marked "COVID care package". Unsure of what might be inside I opened it and found this rehabbed Remington. What a surprise! I had sent a few parts knives to DocB sometime ago and there was not much useful in the lot. He picked out this old Remington, rehandled it with stabilized Mammoth and sent it back to me. Wow! He left the patina on the blades which I agree with. An old soldier fit for the pocket on my jeans. Doc this bomb left a crater. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Sorry my pics do not do it justice.

Looks like a good bombing to me!
Very nice! Just lookin' at the pictures, you would think the handles were some type of wood but stabilized Mammoth looks to be special for sure.
Is the shield the one that came with the old Remington originally?
Congratulations to the bomber and the bombed.

Philip, it had no handles when I sent it to him. They were long gone if I remember right. I think he did a great job on it. The acrylic gives the mammoth a look of wood. Thanks.

Glad you like it, Doglegg. Phil, I made the "shield" from a piece of nicklesilver barstock.

Man, when Floyd pays it forward, he does it in STYLE. He sent this 100th anniversary Mini-Trapper to me. It has wood handles made from the floorboards of one of the original Case factory buildings. Man, this is a slick motor scooter. Floyd,

I'm not worthy.

but thank you anyway. You're a credit to AAPK. I'm so glad you're here.

Well done Floyd! You gotta be slick to sneak one in on an old Jarhead.
Congratulations, Jerry. Does Q have one of these?

No, Phillip, I do not have one of those. The only one I've ever seen for sale on eBay just happened to come up when my budget was already tapped out. Of course, a minor inconvenience like having no money has never proven to be much of an obstacle for OCD Monkey; nevertheless, it sold for way more than even he could justify at the time.
BTW...I'm still wondering if the "FB" in the pattern stamp stands for "floor boards" or "Foster Brook" (the old Case factory from whence the wood was salvaged to make the handle?

)

Q you could be and probably are right on the FB. I know that the handles were made from the floor boards. I knew the name of the factory at one time but as with many things I once knew it is gone now. Thanks for your input.

I finally found my original post from when I got this and after a little more research Q (as usual) nailed it. The handles came from the floor boards from the Foster Brooks Plant. I googled Case Knives Foster Brooks and found a couple of referenced to it. Congrats Q.
