This Schrade set, containing a D'holder and a Lake & Walker, was sold in 2000.

As I work thru my collection cleaning and oiling I discover some items I haven't seen in a long while. Here is a German Bowie made by Voss Knives of Solingen. In SS the blade is 7" long including the ricasso, about a 6" cutting edge. The stag handle is 4 1/8 " and feels very secure because of the strongly flared butt. I don't have a scale but it is very light, responsive, and fast in the hand. A very nice rendering I think.

I bought a pair of Stag handle Kissing Cranes...5" blade on big one,
2 1/2" blade on little one,,,double sheath like the Case twinn finn
Bet that pair took care of 15 whitetails for I retired em !!!
I loved em !!!
Having a big and little knife makes for precise, clean guttin !!!

kogold, how can one know if a Lake & Walker has BG42 steel or the 'regular' steel ? I think both are marked the same ?

Back in 2000, Schrade made its' first 500 Lake & Walker knives, numbered from 1 to 500.
The First 500, had a blade etch " First Production Run 1 of 500"
The Second 500 were numbered from 501 to 1000, and had no blade etch.
These knives all have BG42 blades and NO tang stamp [eg. U.S.A.]
Handles look a little grey.

The Lake & Walker II, was first sold in 2001, with a serrated Blade, the tang is stamped U.S.A.
The non-serrated Lake & Walker II knives were sold about 2003-2004. There tang was also stamped U.S.A.
Handles look almost Black... Ken

The non-serrated Lake & Walker II, LOOK the SAME. However, the U.S.A. tang stamp is the best identifying mark.

Bottom photo is clearly showing the tang stamp "U.S.A." on the Lake & Walker II

Thank you kogold. This is the first clear description i have seen on the Schrade Lake & Walker knives. Clear & easy to comprehend and thereby remember.
I think there were also some China made Lake & Walker that look the same but presumably are marked "China" somewhere(until someone rubs it off) ?

Wow there are some beautiful knives here Kudos, here's my contribution, Sears craftsman , I suspect made by sharade walden, (looks like a 148) but I can't prove it !! But it gets sharp and makes a good companion!

My latest acquisitions in the fixed blade category.
A pair of Glock field knives, one has a saw back. A Khyber Boot knife. I'm told this was made for Kabar in Japan. An Alaskan Boot knife. Just because I'm an Alaskan. A Rough Rider guthook hunter. For $6 knife, I really like this one! And a dedicated guthook made in Sweden.

Ok, the top one is marked Gudedge Solingen and I'm still looking for any info on it. I've been told its likely pre - WW2 but that's all I got.
Number two is a very ground up Wade and Butcher that I bought for a camp knife, until I found out its likely pre war too!
The third is my favourite. It's a little Pal Brand, not Pal Blade, which I think is pre 1935. It has a wooden handle.
So, there they are. Not terribly pretty, but oozing character and history. These knives have been places and done things! I'd rather have a battered old beauty than a pretty, but soulless, new and shiny blade.

this is a knife I just finished up, I haven't been doing a whole lot since the death of my wife back on April 23rd. Anyway, it is a handle that is tiger stripe Purple Heart wood and the blade is O-1 tool steel. I make my own sheaths also. I am trying to get a few made up for xmas gifts. I did that last year and it worked out pretty good. The design is one of my own, didn't really copy any one or any knife. Thanks for looking. Terry

montanaman, Great looking Damascus knife, wish you were closer to the panhandle of Ne. I'd be tempted to try one of your hogs on the table! I used to butcher a lot back in my farming days. Terry

Thanks for the reply Terry, butchering is very important to me. I only sell to a couple chefs who are "nose to tale", and they come butcher their first hog. I have a set of custom trailing points being made in AEB-L at 61RC and a cleaver in CPM-3V, looking very much forward to them.

Here's a Western fixed blade.
It is a G46-8. 8 inch blade and 13 inches overall.
Apparently a military issue. The sheath is not original to the knife.
I'm loving the knife and the sheath.

Terry that's a fine looking blade, kinda reminds of a Canadian belt knife.
Kris my father would have loved that one, he raised hogs...heck I would have loved it too since I seemed to do most of the cutting.
Joe those big Western are my favorite's and yours looks in very nice condition.

My weakness are Woodcraft knives, this old boy is in good shape for 100 years old.
