Some awesome cutlery you boys are bringing home, and happy belated birthday Bill! Your daughter got you a good un', I should know... I collected H&R's for awhile there.
Nothing to call home about (hopefully yet!). I've been expecting 2 fixed blades from JoeFM, for awhile now, nothing. Hopefully they didn't get lost in the mail system, or that he forgot to ship them.

I just received another tuxedo, this time a little Imperial. This has a tang stamp variant that isn't in the Imperial charts I have. Little knives are always a puzzle to date because the tang stamps are often modified from the "standard" due to the small size of the tang.

Well I found a Deadwood Knives package in my mailbox tonight. Late Birthday present from my daughter in Minnesota. Sweet little German made Hen & Rooster warncliff whittler in walnut jigged bone. That girl knows her daddy well.

Congrats Buddy, that's a Beauty!

This Pal Blade Company showed up at Starvation Plantation today. It came from the bottom of the bay and I don't know what it is. I know what I thought it was but it doesn't quite measure up. It's only 3 1/2" long, my several "real" TL-29's and other Electrician's knives are all 3 3/4". It has 1/2 stops and is in all ways identical except for the length.
Anyone have any ideas concerning this one.
Treefarmer
Nice addition at any size Philip!

Ok, I'm stumped too... Haven't seen that Imp. tang stamp before (and i've seen a few). Too bad there's hardly any educational info out there on them, because there so under appreciated

.
Great example btw

Can I borrow her. Just for Christmas and then I'll give her right back. I promise.
I love all five of my kids but she has always been on the same wavelength as me. She is also my favorite fishing partner. Coincidentally she buts heads with her mother
Bill
I have her twin sister right here!!!

You just described my daughter Brandy...

bighomer,
You don't suppose that one would be from the '61-'71 knives with no tang stamps? The nail nick looks a bit out of place, there were several referred to as Balloon pattern that were 3 1/2" long, one was even a single blade.
Treefarmer
Farmer that's what I figure, but it has no etch and doesn't appear to have the etch buffed off, it's a sweetheart anyway. It's the second one I've got with no markings.

I see that knife shown in the 1959 catalog. It may be earlier, but I don't have any catalog evidence of that.

Thanks for that tip! I found the 1959 catalog online, and it says "New" on the page with this knife. So, I think that sets the lower end of the range at 1959. We know that the Imperial name was discontinued in 1988 by Schrade, so that puts the range at 1959-1988. That's a lot more info than I had before, thanks!
When I was a kid in Central California, Imperial knives were VERY common. Almost every gas station, corner market, liquor store, auto parts store, farm supply store, bait & tackle store, etc, etc had at least one of the counter-top cardboard displays of inexpensive shell-construction Imperial knives. Imperial must have had a heck of a sales rep working Central California in the 1960s & 70s!

Same was true here in north central Texas.

That is a beauty LA. I like that heart shield on that.
I got in this IC Cut lockback today. Nickel silver bolsters, pins and liners. Heavier than you would expect. Very solid feel to it. More pics and info under the High End Japanese Knife forum, other Seki Made.

That's great! ...what isn't is my knife knowledge.
I don't own a single Case, I'm clueless to them (and many others). Feel free to share some Case collecting tips with a beginner like me if you'd like to.
