All About Pocket Knives

Here's a Pretty hard one to find , NYK 2 blade . Picked this one up at the Gator show .

I also picked up this real nice copper handle Challenge at the Gator show .

Didn't know whether to put this in the little guys thread or here so here it is:A mini one blade scout probably from Germany with jigged bone scales.Picked up at an antique shop today for $2!
EDIT:Upon cleaning it up a bit I found the tang faintly stamped A.W.Wadsworth Germany.

I don`t think I ever posted a picture of this one.

Found this Cat camp knife complete with the compass. Blades have some staining, good snap, no wobble. Can some one educate me on the use of the short blade with the stud? A couple of pics below.

Unless I'm in a magical magnetic zone, it doesn't work. Haven't seen it move at all. But the compass sold me on it.

I am a fan of the Savage 1899/99 lever gun. A common thing to do "back in the day" was to inlet a small compass into the butt stock of a rifle, usually at the top of the comb. From a collector point of view, not very desirable if the gun is a nice piece. Part of the guns history tho. I saw the compass in this knife and immediately thought that bubba got to this one too.

Don`t feel bad about the compass, very few of these work, I have only seen a handful over the years that did. Yes, a very solid feeling knife in the hand.

Nice old Catt with compass, great find! Be on the lookout in a future edition of Knife World for an article that I wrote (with special assistance from Elvis and Ellisrichman) on Scout knives with compasses. They have an interesting genesis and history even though the BSA never endorsed and "official" model.

I'll do that. I was surprised to see a knife with a compass installed in the handle. After reading this thread and the Cat thread I've learned a little. I hope it stays remembered.

New to the forum and thought I would try posting a few of my Scout pattern knives to this great thread, have really enjoyed looking thru it.
