These came in the mail today.
1st a three inch single blade easy open Jack made by Syracuse Knife Company. The tang stamp has the arched "Syracuse" over Straight line Knife Company, over Syracuse N.Y. From my research this stamp was from 1935-1940, but was produced by Camillus. This one has some wear, but the blade is tight and has great snap and solid half stop. I am proud of this one, I've got a whopping $12 dollars in it.

The next one is a Kutmaster 3-5/8" equal end jack. The handles appear to be bone. There is a sliver cracked off the pile side handle on the top, and you can see the textures looking down on the handle. I had to do a mineral oil bath & flush and some cleaning. It was tight and had some light surface rust. It had been sitting in a drawer or toolbox somewhere for a while. Inside was pretty gunky. The main blade has good snap, but the pen blade is on the weak side. But it cleaned up nice. I just need to dress the blades with a good sharpening and it will be ready for my EDC rotation.

It's like jerryd's "Coon Fingering", it just sticks in your head.
You should know that I am not the original author of "Coon Fingering" and "Chicken Eyeing". I picked up those phrases from others on this forum and as you say, they are so appropriate that they just stick in your head.

Great finds, Smitty. I especially like the Syracuse E/O. Twelve bucks is an unbelievable bargain...you practically stole that one!
I must confess that my latest acquisitions set me back a few clams, but I couldn't be more pleased; it was money well-spent IMHO (the tricky part is convincing my wife of the wisdom of my investments!

Philip they are plastic. I heard what it was called but memory fails me at the moment. I think that was 50's or later.

That must be your winter carry knife. Drop it in the summer and it would be hard to find. Cool knife.

Or a Canadian TV show on PBS. Maybe we could get Steve Smith to play Red Green.
