Unused 2 3/4” 808 jr stockman in peachseed bone. However, this one has no pattern stamp, instead being stamped stainless. It also has no liner stamping like these usually do. A most excellent little knife.

Man, that's great bone. The color, the jigging, wow. Lost art or something because you never see killer bone or jigging like that anymore. Least I don't on recent knives. Congrats.

Great knives over the past few pages. Here's one I picked up a while back. Kept meaning to try for better pictures but just never got around to it.

Another set of beautiful bones. Keep them coming all, great show around here. Can't believe someone now-a-days isn't trying something like peach seed jigging. Fabulous piece.

8173 3/4. Identical shields on both sides of the knife. Weird. Not the earliest Schrade jigging but much earlier than the peachseed that commands raves. I think this jigging is pretty darn nice too. Oh... It just so happens that I have another example with condition a little down from this one that I could release.

Looks like it's in fabulous shape, too. I have a little Schrade pen with those tang stamps that is making its way back to me...

Here’s an Easy Opener Jack I snatched at an auction a couple of months ago. It’s interesting not only because of its condition. I could only find the pattern in a 1926 catalogue, but it has the Schrade Walden NY tang stamp from the late 1940’s - 1950’s. It’s only stamped on the mark side of the main blade. There is no pattern number or other markings on the other tangs. At 3 5/8”, with an ebony handle, shield, and end cap, it most closely matches the #2012 pattern from that catalogue. I couldn’t find any listings of Easy Openers that size from later catalogues. Additional information would be greatly appreciated.

To my eyes, that looks more like a cocobola (cocobolo) #2011. Gaboon ebony heartwood is jet black like piano keys but it could be either.

As far as the tang-stamp goes, I have a similar mystery regarding a Schrade Walden stamped lobster pattern knife that never make it into the Schrade Walden catalogs. The stamp is exactly the same as your knife. My working theory is that these are "transition" knives completed during a period when Schrade Walden was using up old Cut. Co. parts to turn them into money. Note that my knife is dated "1950". I might be wrong as the day is long.

My knife is either light ebony or dark cocobolo. I haven't seen enough Schrade wood handles to make an informed judgement. I am fairly certain the handle pattern matches either #2011 or #2012 from the 1926 catalogue.

Looking at your knife, Bladecollector, I wonder if the engraved dates are commemorative, maybe the 25th anniversary of L W Inc.? 1950 falls within the "Schrade Walden, NY" stamp's timeframe. I've seen lobsters used as advertising and commemorative knives. The one you have is in great condition.

I'm sure you are on the right track. I've seen a lot of pics of both and the cocobola was often just like your knife and the ebony just like piano keys with little to no colour variation. Here's a nice pic of some ebony knives:

I'm positive the engraved date commemorates the 25th anniversary of L.W. Inc. I think it most likely that the knife went to the original owner right before or right after the engraving went on it. It wasn't sold before late 1946 and likely not after 1950 either. People don't tend to order expensive commemorative knives for last year's events or one 4 years into the future. They get handed out at the time of the celebration.

Thanks for your comments on my knife. Schrade Walden stamped tons of (different pattern) lobster knives but in 12 years of scouring the internet I've only seen two Schrade Walden stamped 2-1/4" lobster pattern knives. The other one was pearl and heavily used. I'd love to see more! That's why I scour the internet lol
