All About Pocket Knives

All very nice Mark! I saw the first 2 in your store and was extremely impressed with the black lipped pearl, that's one good look'in folder! As for the last one, "keep it, use it" gets my vote!

Thought I would get a group shot of these small 3 inch knives. 3 of these were made for A.G. Russell and the cocobolo one is a Regent Aristocrat.
I didn’t realize until I took the group shot that the white one is a slightly different model. White smooth bone handles with a spacer between the handle and the bolster. The bolster is also a bit shorter. The Chinese Quince Burlwood is my new user. As you can see there is blade loss from use and resharpening, it has also changed the profile of the blade. Getting the old profile would take a lot more of the blade away so I am leaving it as is.
I also got in another A.G. Russell Mediterranean Barlow with jigged red bone handles. This one also has the sliding side lock on it. The black lipped pearl version is still my favorite of these two.
The Chinese Quince Burlwood version that I have been using is quickly becoming my favorite. The ATS-34 stainless is holding an edge well and I didn’t have any trouble getting it hair shaving sharp with my Work Sharp belt sharpener. I like this size knife for carrying and what I usually need a knife for.
Not sure where or who made the Mediterranean Barlows but I am 99% certain that the 3” lockbacks were made by IC Cut, possible their HIRO production.
If I had to guess, I would think that the Barlows were also made by them.

The blade shape is a great favorite of mine.

I bid on one just like that last week. I sure hope I didn’t drive the price up on you? That is one sweet knife.

I just got in what can only be called a “legacy knife”. Made in Seki Japan in 2001 for A.G. Russell. I am convinced after handling this knife that the same makers of Paragon knives made this knife as well. A.G. called it “Strike Force”. The blade is made of Sabre ground VG-10 stainless steel and is scary sharp, I accidentally brushed the side of my thumb on the edge and got a scalpel like slice. The frame and bolsters are aluminum w/ the bolster being anodized aluminum. G-10 handles that are textured like gunstocks. Unlike Paragon knives, this one has a removable pocket clip. The run up on this one is as tight as any knife I have ever seen, when opened it’s hard to find the line between the backspring and the blade.
Measures 5”closed OAL.

Yes, the runup on that is incredible. Superb workmanship.

Just saw this one in your store Mark, and the moment I saw the run-up it went onto my "Wishlist"! Absolutely gorgeous knife!

Here is an IC Cut Silver Moose. I think these were made primarily for Coast but this one isn’t marked with the Coast brand. Either pakkawood or stamina wood for the handles. Stainless blade and nickel silver bolsters, pins and liners. It’s a very sturdy knife. The run up is very good but not as tight as you see on Moki.

I have been trying to move a picture from this website to here but have had no success. Just wanted to point out that at the above link JKD has 2 brand new Mamba’s made by Master Seizo Imai. They have many new knives that were partially complete when he died. Another knife master has done the final assembly and finishing work. These two Mamba’s were actually made by Master Imai and his widow has agreed to release them for sale.

I pulled the trigger on the giraffe bone covers. Feeling a bit of guilt over spending so much just as Christmas approaches but it is a guilty pleasure.
