Mahalo Randy & Floyd.
I see that this thread isn't getting much love lately, but being a lifelong fan of Queen knives, I can't help myself whenever I see one that fits my little collection I just have to buy it. Generally, I tend to overpay--probably because of the steadily dwindling supply (of the USA made Queen knives, anyway) and collectors like me who snap them up whenever I can. Case in point, this Copperhead pattern #41 with what I consider to be one of Queen's two best handle materials: ACSB (Winterbottom Bone being the other, of course). Absolutely LOVE it, and no one else has ever come close to making it as well as Queen, IMHO.

That's mighty fine knife, Q !
I totally agree with you comment "steadily dwindling supply".

That's a beautiful knife Q!
This one doesn't compare to that beauty, but it's still a good looking knife. I like the way the long lines of the Winterbottom delrin look with the long slim handle.
I don't have many Queen knives, anybody know what kind of steel is on this #11?

Mike, that's a nice looking #11!
The best I can come up with from the 1972-1978 catalog listed on the Queen Cutlery site is "Queen Steel".
I looked in my pile and there are 3 #11s but they are all 11EOs, one has real Winterbottom Bone handles.
I grew up carrying the Case equivalent and for today's use the blade seems to say it can do more than it really can. In other words, the frame won't stand up to the size of the blade if you really want to use a blade of that length, lots of stress on the hinge pin and the rather small frame. JMHO

It sure has a graceful look, though.
Most of my Queen knives say "D2 Tool Steel" on the tang, but I don't know if that's true of knives made in earlier years.

Thanks for the replies Phillip and QT. I dug around a bit more and apparently the "Queen Steel" is most likely 440C. They just called it that to avoid some of the stigma attached to stainless steel in the early years.

I agree Q, this is a beautiful handle material. I have a Queen folding hunter with the same.

Oooooohhhhhh Yeaaaaaahhhh!!!! I see a Peanut and a Slimline....but, you seem to be missing the middle-size Mini Trapper #51 (probably because jerryd & I have all of them!)

Yes indeed...a very fine haul. All of them are nice but that Barlow really catches my eye (the palm tree towel backdrop too!).
I see that the #48A has pin cracks just like pretty much every single one from the "Queen's Own" line with yellow covers seems to have. Kind of serves as a mark of authenticity, I suppose.

Nice Folding Hunter.
I would venture to say that Silverladdie is directly responsible for at least 1/3 of my collection (and, consequently, 1/3 of my eventual bankruptcy, as well!) Great seller for sure

Uh...yes, Gary, I know

(I think you may have misread my post).

I feel that ACSB and Winterbottom Bone are Queen's
two best handle materials.
Here's another post where I mention ACSB in case you missed it:

My lucky day, I found this Queen 3 and 5/8" stockman in a $5 box at the flea market today. It is blade etched Queen steel #61. Blade etch is still visible, but tang stamp is kind of muddy.

Found another ACSB Copperhead that is very similar to the #41 I posted earlier, but this one is a #41L (because it has a Liner Lock). I really like the Queen Copperhead #41 pattern - fit and finish is simply exquisite and, of course, I'm an ACSB magnet...can't get enough.
