Looking back through this thread...that Miller Brothers gravity knife is somethin' else! Holy Smokes!

Here is a real survivor. 32206G with a round shield meaning it has a punch blade plus a full spey blade with FOR CUTTING FLESH ONLY. And the number 6 is for ebony handles.

ELECTRIC jack knife 1873-1890.

Wow, talk about a survivor, that jack is amazin' OD, thanks for sharing. Thinking of the the last year you posted, 1890, my grandfather would have been 3 years old then.

Here is a simple jack, B&T Co. New Haven c. 1920s. stamped Pequot on the back.

Lovely old knife, Beechtree. Nice clear tang stamps.

LB, B&T actually stands for Bronson & Townsend Co. New Haven( 1923-1938). They used the trademark Pequot, a reference to the Pequot tribe, a more recognizable name then as well as now than the tribe that inhabited the New Haven area, the Quinnipiacs.

Thanks Beechtree.... Only BT I knew was Bridgeport Tool in New Haven so that is a new company for me (or one I failed to note) - Bronson & Townsend Co. New Haven (found in Goins but no mention in BRL or New England Cutleries by Phil P)... cool - another to add to my list

Lee big B,as you do also, has some very nice old knives,the kind we like. Better than that is his knowledge of them.

It's one of the things I love about this site, the knowledgeable collectors we have here,who aren't stingy with it.

Lyle - I agree with you 150% .... the knowledge base here is top notch with lots of folks willing to share - and from a personal standpoint my learning curve has sky-rocketed since joining ... of course this is one of those things where the learning never stops..... (like fly fishing and tying for those who enjoy that pursuit as well)...

I agree with both of you Lyle and Lee, this is a fantastic place to learn! Also, whenever I open Goins' I am always impressed with the new things I see. Each time I find things that make me say a little prayer of thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Goins. Any person interested in history, let alone an interest in pocket knives, can recognize the amazing amount of knowledge and passion contained in that volume.

Goins and Tweedale are a must for collectors of old knives.

Unk - that is a wonderful collection of wooden jacks!! I dig wood myself - especially the wood of old - ebony, cocobolo etc etc... hard, durable and beautiful grain!!

And it doesn't shrink.
