Thanks Trevor!
Any clues on what the riveted head is all about? Was that some new idea in chopping wood or something?

I WOULD THINK A MANUFACTURING WAY TO SAVE MONEY..........
EASIER THAN CASTING OR FORGING ENTIRE HEAD WITH EYELET?????? (JUST A GUESS)
SEEMS LIKE A TON OF STRESS ON 3 RIVETS.......................

How do you guys clean these axes up?
I saw vinegar & steel wool was mentioned; just scrub it with vinegar?
Do you soak it first? Do you oil it afterward?
I have a few I need to clean up.
Thanks,
Dale

I use GOJO hand cleaner and steel wool on mine Dale. The GOJO makes the handles look great too. It renews the wood and makes it shine. Vinegar will remove the rust but it also removes the patina. If you want to make them look like new, soak them in vinegar then take steel wool or a wire brush to them, the rust and crud will fall off. I coat the head with light oil and the handles with mineral oil after they're cleaned up.

My wife & I stopped at a store that sells leftovers from estate sales.
I found this Plumb Scout Axe.

- The handle says Official Scout Axe
The head is mushroomed; pounding too many tent pegs?

Anyone have an idea of the value in this condition?

A few recent finds. A Collins Jersey pattern made by Mann Edge, an unmarked axe, a Belknap Blue Grass carpenter's hatchet head, an Evansville double bit head and a very nice Kelly "Worlds Finest" hatchet with the original sheath.

Nice finds Mike!
Here is one I just had to have, it was made in Poland, it is very unusual which I like and you can`t beat the stag handle and inlays
