Not really a vintage pearl but a nice one nonetheless;an American Blade Life Knife serial #866(of 1000).I believe you could only buy these if you became a lifetime subscriber of the American Blade Magazine.It is a 5 blade sowbelly with scales made in 3 pieces;the center is a piece of abalone surrounded by pearl.The pearl is flawless and fiery.All blades are stamped and it was made in Japan(by whom I'm not really sure but it is a high quality knife).

I have to warn ya, Bret888 got me a scanner for Christmas. Everyone will have to watch out now! LOL

Here are three recent ones that we have gathered up. The New York Walden with the pouch & the John Holler were surprise Christmas gifts from Bret. He snagged the Holley in a batch from ebay. The seller didn't spell "Holley" correctly, so it didn't draw much attention.

Outstanding knives everyone.
Lot of history in those knife companies.
I like to let the light reflect off the pearl as you rotate them, they almost dance in your hand.

Thanks. It's 3 5/8" closed. It's one of the bigger MOP's that we have now.

Knifegirl, just curious how long you and Brett been collecting vintage knives?

Well... it only been about a year. I asked Bret for some good kitchen knives just last year for Christmas. I expected just a set from Walmart. He has a large aversion to those kinds of stores though. He probably would rather visit the dentist then to go to the mall. LOL

Anyways, he stopped at an antique/Amish store or something. He found some Case kitchen knives, which sparked his interest. Next thing you know, he was looking on ebay. He has always loved and collected guns. It didn't take him long to realize that knives were made with quality & care. Soon, the mail lady was visiting his house often.

For maybe the first month, I really didn't pay much attention. I have always loved antiques. I like to research items to find out history/dates of an item. One day, he brought in an old Boker with the tree stamped on it for me to look at. I researched some on the net to try and date it by how many branches was on the tree. Of course, that was a lot of fun for me.

I started reading about knives, makers & the different companies. Bret has always taken me to the guns shows with him & I would always just socialize. Now, I go to search for knives! He jokes that while he is looking at the guns, I run ahead & snag all the good knives out from under him. He knows though, what is mine, is his!

I still have soooo much to learn. Everyone is patient with me & that is nice! It's a plus that I have a good sense of humor & can laugh at my mistakes.

I have two sisters, but both are married & neither of them collect knives or hunt! Believe it or not, my old hobby was making jewelry. I still do that on occasion when I need a gift for woman. I made this for Bret's sister-in-law for Christmas. It's freshwater black pearls with a sterling silver clasp.

I do love pearls!
