A little humor for the day!

Having read the whole thread, I can say there are some good looking knives there. I've always love lock blade knives, and have never seen why someone would carry any other kind of knife. Even growing up in the 1950's when the stereo typical pocket knife was a two blade slip hint jackknife of some sort, I never liked them. Too hard or impossible to open with work gloves on or cold hands. Lockblades can be pulled open even with bulky gloves in cold weather, not to mention safer.

For the past thirty years I've had a love of the French Opinels, and almost all the time have one in my pocket. In dress pants I have a Gerber LST that is so light it disappears in a pocket until there's something to cut. The only non locking knife I carry is a Victorinox made Swiss Army knife because of the handy tools on it, but it goes in a pack.

Opinels, Eka, Mercator, Gerber LST's and Gators, and a Buck lightweight are my favorites.

If you all have seen this one before it's because I luvs it.

Johnny, that is one fine looking knife - the most unique (in a great way) lock-back I have seen.

Found one more while digging around in my hunting locker; a Gerber I have owned at least 30 years and never used - had to clean a lot of the green crud off of the brass and the snap on the sheath. The grind on the blade reminds me of the Case "new grind".

A year or two back I seen a couple three of these Case 6165L pattern lockback knives on Ebay that brought a high price IMHO. The first 1 that did it, I thought there were 2 bidders in a pi$$ing match or a shill bidder helping the seller. After that first one I seen a few more sale for well over the $100 mark and the year of manufacture didn't make any difference. The different knives had different sellers and there wasn't any shill bidders that I could see connected to any of the knives. The condition of the knives differed also. Does being a lockback run the auction price of the 6165L pattern up? Or, is it that Case doesn't offer this pattern as often as they do the 6165 & 6265?

the small folder is stamped "A.W. BRADSHAW AND SONS AUSTRIA". the large knife has no tang stamp.

I picked mine up as part of an auction for a Case hardeware store display board. The board had 16 knives and sheaths etc. from the early 80's and sold for $400. I have since been offered $100 plus for the 6165L even though it's book value is under $50. It's a cool patern for sure.
As a side note I sent 6 of the knives from the board into the Case spa for repair, mostly loose blades and stained bolsters. The 6165L was one of them and is as good as new now. The Case repair rep. even commented how nice these old lockbackes were.
