Charlie, I was on to that slot lock feature very early on but it still would not break apart thus the soaking overnight in the solvent and Kroil. Thanks though for the “heads up”

Charlie, I have one other slot knife a NYKC example. It does NOT require the master spear blade to be open to break it apart like the Terrier. Would be interesting to know if any other slot knives have this kick lock feature

I recently purchased this Terrier Easy Open Jack.

It is 3 11/16” long, which is not the standard length for this pattern. Standard length was 3 5/8”. Cannot explain that, other than it didn’t get polished down as usual.

Pattern number is 27 / 626. If it were Robeson marked, the pattern number would be 626027 or 62627.

There is a very nice dog’s head logo stamped into the back tang of the master blade.

Very nice brown jigged and grooved bone handles without cracks or chips. Nickel-Silver escutcheon shield.

Master spear and secondary pen, both full, with half-stops and tremendous audible snaps opening, closing and even at the half-stop positions.

Both blades are marked, TERRIER / CUTLERY / ROCHESTER, N.Y. in three lines.

Hardly any, if any, wear or use, but with some patination.

There are remnants of an elaborate etch on the spear blade. I cannot make it out fully, but one word appears to have been, “Silver”. However, there are letters, words or fancy scroll work both before and after that. The entire etch is underlined.

I have never seen a similar etch on a Robeson or Terrier knife.

I’m quite pleased with this one.

On the etch - I am seeing “Steel” after Silver but can’t make out first word.. does “silver steel” have any significance in terms of an etch for Terrier or Robeson?

"Silver Steel" does have a history in cutlery manufacturing.

My mind connects it with Sheffield cutlery, but there's no reason it could not have been used here.

Whether Robeson was actually using this tool steel, I do not know.

Do you think the total etch could have been. "SHEFFIELD SILVER STEEL"?

Now that we are at this point, I think I might have seen reference to a similar tool steel on a metal handled Robeson knife.

A Google image search for "Sheffield Silver Steel" produces a lot of straight razors so marked or etched.

Great - I think the evidence points to Sheffield Charlie but I can’t make out the first word of the etch at all ... I don’t think it says Firth and not enough room for Sheffield ..

I can almost think I see the ".......ld".

Wishful thinking, but I think there is plenty of room on the blade for "SHEFFIELD" to have been there.

I'm liking this knife more and more.

I was messing with it today. It makes more noise snapping into the half-stop positions than most knives do at open and close.

This knife has got some springs.

I love the display Charlie.
Especially the Barlow with TCC on the bolster.
I've been looking for one of those for a long time.
I've never even seen one in person, just pictures.
