Thanks for all the fine comments and thanks QT for coming to the rescue and showing the chart. I'm a Queen lover and I knew Farmer is too so I just slipped that in there for him, never thinking that it was interesting to others ,sorry about that. ::handshake::

Here's one that has neither, looks like it's never been used to any extent. May have had the etch removed as the blade looks like a satin finish. Most of the later queens I have are mirror finished. The handles sure look like the fake winterbottom that Queen used. Did any other use this? I know that several other knife companies used real winterbottom bone though not to the extent of Queen. ::shrug:: ::handshake::

Help us out Homer, what does that mean when they come with no stamp?
I believe a Queen knife with only a blade etch and no tang stamp means it was made between 1961-71.
Queen-tang-guide-sheet2.jpg
::hmm:: Now that's a very interesting fakt to know! ::hmm:: No Stamp from 61-71. So does anyone know how easily does the etching wear off on an EDC knife? ::shrug:: Are there a large number of Queen HOK's out there for sale that can no longer be identified as such? ::shrug::

Thanks for that Info Q! ::handshake:: That question has been haunting me for some time now. I have my explination now. ::tu:: It works very well and seems to make a lot of sense to me so I'm gonna stick to it. ::nod::

Here are some pictures of those 2 knives. A Bearhead Jack stamped only Solingen Germany & a Stockman stamped only Stainless Steel.

Are you saying these 2 were Queen made then? I could understand the one with no stamp, I do not understand a German stamp on a Queen. Did they contract some out to German makers? Fascinating. Thanks for the info all you Queen scholars.

No, what I mean is my knives can really be from a good cutlery co. but were only etched with the co. name. Sorry if my thoughts confused you. That happens to me all the time.

Bighomer,
That's a fine looking single bladed trapper. Have you figured out what pattern this one is? The only one I can figure it being with a single blade would be a #11.

Famer its on the trapper frame #19 but I've never found a single blade in the catalogues. Could it have had a broken flesh blade and someone removed it, if they did they did a fine job., could it be a infamous lunch bucket knife ::shrug:: maybe just never made the catalogues. Here's a comparison photo showing it with a #19 on top with a couple of #11eo on the bottom, clearly larger than the #11s. ::handshake::

Got this little Remington in the mail today. In looking it over I noticed there are 2 different tang stamps.
If I'm looking at the chart right, the one on the main blade indicates 1924 - 1933.
The one on the small blade indicates 1921 - 1924.
So what is the real age of the knife. I'm no expert, but I know I'm in the right place to find one. :D

One of the first Cases I ever had was a John Deere edition Mini Blackhorn. At 3 1/8" closed with a 2 1/4" blade, it was just enough knife for most jobs my 11-year-old self had to do. I lost it when I was 16. Several years later, I finally got around to getting another, this time just the base model, for $11 shipped. It was produced in December 2019 according the box. For some reason, it uses a generic stamp. This is one of the few lightweight lockbacks I've seen that is small, but not too small.

Does anyone know why they don't use the dot system on this model? Because it's so inexpensive and not worth the new tool every year? I remember my Lowe's used to sell it as one of the three Case models they had (Trapper, Sodbuster Jr., Mini Blackhorn) before dropping Case for Buck and Browning.

2019 Case 059L Mini Blackhorn.

Love that green bone Jerry. That’s a very nice shade of green.

I got a few in that lately that I hadn’t posted. The GEC 23 Red Tail and an A.G. Russell Seki made lockback in smooth natural white bone.

Looks like there are several possibilities. I too went through several of the catalogs from the time of no tang stamps and came away with no knife. Being that it is on the #19 frame and narrowed up by at least 1/8", that would be a comfortable and substantial EDC. I sure enjoy trying to figure out the older Queens when I run across one. The fact that the same pattern number has been used on totally different knives several times makes the hunt interesting. bdev (Bruno) has always been mighty helpful in steering me to what pattern a Queen might be.

A shout out to Lansky for finding this R6154 Case trapper to go with the G6154. Both made in 1982 in a somewhat limited run. Thank you John !!!! A perfect way to end the fourth Holiday weekend. ::tu::

I have been told that I am an expert. If you diagram the word "expert", you get:
"Ex", which means 'a has-been'
"Spurt", which is 'a drip under pressure'!

Now, I am NOT too knowledgeable on Remington knives, but I have heard that they had a tendency to use up the parts that were on-hand. So if they had a box of pen blades on a shelf that were a year or two old, they would use them on new knives.
If that is the case, then your knife is authentic and the tang stamp on the Main blade is from the actual date of manufacture, and the small blade was "New Old Stock" that they were using up.

Noted. Looks good and I like the no X's, just dots as in the seventies and eighties. What surprised me was the Nazi "S" they snuck in there. Good for Case, that takes some guts in this era of political correctness. Looks cool and so clean and neat. And the "S" is great.

What if it wasn't meant to be a Nazi 'S'? What if it was an 'S' stylized lighting bolt? ::woot::

Exactly what it is. Lightning bold S which is what the Nazi's used and there are other stylized versions besides those shown that are even closer to the Case S.

This is from a website specializing in symbols that are used as emoticons.

Thunder ⚡ Lightning bolt symbol
Lightning bolt symbol, aka thunderbolt text emoticon is used to convey things that may be shocking either electrically, or in a metaphorical sense. Lightning emoticon is even used to convey "lightning fast speed", as in Google Amp project that has a ⚡ lightning bolt as it's symbol. It's hard to say how to correctly write AC⚡DC band as text without a lightning symbol. Apperently the usual correct way is AC/DC but, of course, a lot of people text it as "ACDC", or "AC DC" as a result. In AC⚡DC the ⚡ lighting bolt sign probably stands for the loud sound of lightning thunder clap. They even have a song called "Thunderstruck" with a memorable chant "Thunder".

⭍ 🗲 ↯ ϟ these are also widely used.
You can even find lightning bolts in some of the text fonts in Windows.
I am not a programmer by any means at all but I see a lot of different symbols used in some programming languages and some of those remind me of lightning bolts.

Prior to 1920 Case used a stylized E on a Case XX stamp. From 1920 to 194 they use long tail Cs, three variations, and even use serif's on some letters and at one point spelled Case in cursive. They introduced the lightning S about 1980. In 1993 to 1999 they used a flowing long tail C with the letters the rest of the name Case and XX flowing along the curve of the C. Another variation of this was introduced in 2010.
This is not hard to validate, just go to the research section here on AAPK and look up the Case Knife Age Identification Page.

I don't think that Case Cutlery is in any way a fascist sympathizing organization or even a fascist sympathizing organization. They have used the stylized lightning bolt type S since 1980. Personally, I think it's was used because they were running out of distinctive stylized letter symbols that they had not used.

Methinks, to use a British idiom, this is "a tempest in a teacup."

Moore Maker 5213UDLB Double Lockback "Trapper" by Utica (but since the blades are at both ends, wouldn't that make it a Moose?) Factory Second. Got it for $32 as a result, from Moore Marketing, which is an individual selling the Moore Maker seconds on eBay.
KIMG1288.JPG
Main reason--huge crack in the bone (I suspect it got dropped by someone at Utica; as you can tell--it's not a pin crack) on back scale (filled with resin) and some slight wobble on spey. Other than that, perfectly fine. Blades are sharpened well, and it unlocks just fine.
KIMG1289.JPG
It is marked as being a second. No, no tangs stamps X'd out or ground off, but instead, a very subtle file mark on the pile side back liner; and decal on the box. This was bought for an EDC knife. I think with the wide blades, and 1095 carbon steel; it would make a quite fine hunting knife. And yes, that's mineral oil. Has to be a whole 3 ounce bottle worth on the knife!

Nor to suck their tightie whities up their crack over this Buck 722 I just got in the mail. I don't know why I buy these. They're all the same except for the color and this one has S30V steel for what ever that's worth.
