I forget how much I was always into the Trains hobby and real. For me they all go together. I would actually have think hard about how many different tourist type trains I have done over the years.
Both of the kids are adopted and hence both went on a train ride before or around when they were a week old.
David's first was somewhere near Pittsburg no Pics.
Lindsay's Pics included in Idaho that train ride is now defuncted. Those pictures are just about 19 years ago.

Here is a question for you true enthusiasts. Decades ago, in my pre-adult years, I watched on TV a black-and-white film about a high-speed train. It was tasked with carrying a medical machine (an iron lung?) across the U.S. It would not fit in an airplane, yet it must reach the destination very quickly in order to save the patient's life.
The one scene I remember was of workers scrambling to clear the tracks as the train roared across the country on its life saving mission. I'm guessing the film might have been made in the 1930s. I don't know the name or anything else about it.

Have not seen the film, found some info online......the movie was titled "Silver Streak", (not the later Richard Pryor film).
The loco was a Chicago, Burlington & Quincy streamliner, the Pioneer Zephyr. It was renamed "Silver Streak" for the movie. Scenes were shot at the CB&Q yards in Galesburg, the high school sports teams thereafter adopted the name Silver Streaks.
I'm glad you asked that question, Garry, interesting info for an Illinois resident, now I need to see the film.

This train is more of a kiddie park train not rally tourist. Steam never the less McCormick Stillman in Scottsdale AZ. Took my older kids there when they were young. The steam did not used to run on weekdays only weekends. There is a side park where its a club with smaller equipment pretty interesting place.

I have a friend who is really into trains - he used to work for the railroad - and later the Post Office.
I was over at his house on Saturday, and I took this video of his model train set-up. He moved houses last summer, so he still has some construction going on on the set in this video. You can see models of the Texas & Pacific Terminal and the old Post Office in downtown Fort Worth. He also has a model of his grandfather's farm. I think he said he had to wait quite a while for the guy to come build this base years ago, as he was building a base for Warren Buffet (the rich guy).

Not just one locomotive, but the entire roster after the IC went to the nose logo as seen in the picture. Today, since the CN buyout, there are few of these paint schemes still in operation. I am in an area where I still see 1 or 2 a couple of times a month.

Pulled some photos of my old hard drive 20yrs or so. No only semi temporary layouts for Christmas I would leave them up as long as I was allowed.
I'm sure you won't enjoy as much as I did but you will appreciate the effort the big one was over 40 man hrs many night till 12-2am.
The multi layer with my friend Jefferson the cat on top wasn't as complex of wiring. Made all the piers and tunnel Portals out of 2 inch pink. I had to put the portal cutouts back in to keep jeff from going inside the tunnel are. Two different posts for pics.
