Its not old.
Achim Wirtz from Germany made it about ~20y ago. He called it 'Celtic dagger' .

I've been meaning to add one of these to my collection and finally made good on that intent. This one came in the mail today...

I know these knives aren't "rare" but you don't see them very often. I got this one from Sooner State Knives for a very reasonable price.

Charlie that is a good looking knife. A great addition. Now be careful or Jerry will be creeping around your house trying to procure it.

I'm not worried Jerry, my collection is guarded by the legendary canine muscle missile. He loves the taste of human flesh. He'll try to lick every inch of it off of you!

I now have the mil-spec or USMC fighting knife as made by Ka-Bar, Camillus, and Case. I need to snag one made by Ontario and I believe Colonial or Imperial RI made some. I'd like to find as many different versions as I can made by different USA cutlers. Any info on who made these knives to mil-spec would be greatly appreciated.

I've been told that there some out there with a Union Cut. Co. tang stamp but I have never seen one.

First to produce them was Union Cutlery forever to be known by their makers mark "KABAR".
They were followed by PAL Blade Co, Camillus Cutlery, and Robeson Cutlery.

Note: Camillus made the lions share of the WWII MK IIs (1219C2). Also, Conetta made some for a short time during the Viet Nam era. I don't recall seeing any by Colonial or Imperial.

"Camillus had government contracts for the 1219C2 and made more 1219C2 (MK-II) combat knives during WWII than any other manufacturer (Ka-Bar, Robeson, Pal, etc).

Camillus continued to make 1219C2s under government contract long after WWII ended (starting again in 1962), certainly up through the 1960s, while production of the famous Ka-Bar ceased with the end of WWII and wasn't revived (for the civilian market only) until 1975-76."

Camillus made them for the civilian market until close of business.

John, back when I hunted bunnies, in the field I would squeeze them (some folks called it slinging them). Didn't need a knife until I got home.

Hi Floyd.. I have heard of that being done.. We clean them as soon as we shoot them.. Holdem by the back legs.. Cut around the back legs and pull skin to the head.. Pop out the front legs from the skin and twist off the head.. Skinning done.. Open up belly from back to front and remove innards.. Quarter and finish cleaning once home.. John
