A feller can't have too many .22s! I really like the looks of the 2nd rifle in the 1st picture. It resembles the little .22 that Browning made that loaded through the stock and ejected through the bottom of the receiver. I wonder if they are related? There's nothing more fun than plinkin' with a good .22! I have to use a 'scope any more as the old eyes won't focus like they once did.

Agreed QS. Practice makes perfect. "Muscle Memory" is key on firearm control, safe operation, accuracy and even maintenance.

Bought a Colt made by Cooper Firearms M2102 MT308T .308 with the Manners stock. Most expensive firearm I have ever purchased but you need to cough up some bucks for a one hole gun at 100 yards (in the hands of the right marksman, not saying I am). Definetely consistent sub MOA out LONG given prpoer care and shooter. Sight in went pretty damn good though except I need a 20 MOA Rail.
Bought as a longe range, 600 to 1000 yard gun. Almost bought a Nightforce 8x32x56mm scope last weekend for it but that may have to wait at $2200.
Factory target at 50 yards is one ragged hole as pictored below. Second pic is with my Burris Eliminator 3 mounted for 100 yard sight in. Rail and shims, I ran out of elevation. Frustrating but it is what it is.

Low shot was cold bore prior to realizing I had few additional elevation clicks left. The sub MOA 3 shot tight group shows what the rifle can do. Just need some more gear to go further. Post a pic of her when I get her finished. For now, link in case anyone is interested.

Treefarmer, the Remington model 241 and it's predecessor, the model 24, share the same lineage as Browning's SA-22. The 241 is a bigger than either the model 41 or the Browning rifle, but other than that, they are pretty much the same design with just a few differences. All three are break-down, bottom eject, load through the buttstock rifles.

Those Cooper/Colts are impressive looking rigs. Way beyond my skill set, but I can drool.

I have my Dad's 1924 Remington Model 11 (the first real gun I ever shot). He bought it used sometime in the 1970s. It still shoots, but is in pretty rough shape. I have can't decide whether to keep it original or send it off to Art and let him restore it.

Speaking of auto fives, here's a 1966 light twelve, Belgian made Browning.
Kicks like a mule, so I have a new recoil spring and friction ring on order.

Here's my latest build fresh off the bench, I haven't even fired it yet. It's a single shot 30-06. Just a guess but, I'm thinking it weighs about 12 lbs.

The receiver is from a Parker-Hale mod 86 sniper rifle. It's a hybrid Mauser 98 on steroids, very ridged.
I've practiced firing and reloading with dummy rounds, works very well.

That ought to be a sweet shootin' thing, weighin' in at 12 pounds. That one would go good in a shootin' house over lookin' a 40 acre field of soybeans

Blue, I love those old A5s and Remington 11s. I know they have a reputation for kicking, but all the ones I have shot seem to have very little recoil if the friction rings are set correctly.

My friend that I shoot sporting clays with uses a 1967 Light 12 with an imp cyl barrel. Beautiful shotgun!

We had a model 12 in 20g that was a good shooter. Like everything else besides my Moisan Nagant and a bunch of .22 guns are long since gone.

Nice looking rifle Ken.. ..that will put some lead downrange. Are you planning to shoot heavy bullets..180g plus in it, I'd bet it would be fun to shoot!

I actually don't know who built the barrel.
It's a 1-10 twist that I got off ebay about 10 years ago.

I went out and shot some five stand Saturday afternoon with my old best buddy from HS and his girlfriend. He retired from a career in the Army and moved home a year ago - sure is great to have him back around. I shot 25 rounds with my 1974 built Winchester Super X Model 1 with MOD field barrel - I bought this shotgun from a hardware store back home while stationed at APG MD in 1976 (first firearm I ever bought). I shot another 25 rounds with this 1982 built Browning Auto-5 with MOD vent rib barrel that I bought early last week. I shot equally sorry with both guns! OH

I wish I could blame the ammo - I think it was the sorry shooter! However, I'm certain he will get better if he will just go more often. OH

Oh, I don't know. Didn't work for me. Back when I was shooting skeet, I went quite often and never really got much better.
Practice makes perfect, only if practice is right.
