On our recent trip to Seattle the birds all seemed to be in the preening mode.

Very nice photos!!
Here are a couple from last Spring that I never posted. I was taking my dog for a swim in a remote location and ran across 50 or 60 White Pelicans. I see them on the larger lakes in my area, but this was only about a 5 acre lake a good distance from any large body of water.

"Three little birds on the wall."
(A poem about swallows.)
Three little birds on the wall,
They squirm & they chirp & they call,
I can't stand to watch,
I'm affraid they might fall,
Three little birds on the wall.
The cat sits just five feet away,
Licking his lips the whole day,
Watching & waiting,
Hoping they'll fall,
Three little birds on the wall.
Me & three kids & my spouse,
Live in a small little house,
Our dog & three cats,
And I think theres a mouse,
And theres three little birds on the wall.

Barn Swallows can be annoying, but I enjoy watching any member of the Swallow family. Barn Swallows and Cliff Swallows are both good looking birds.
Coincidentally, I had just taken a couple of pics of some Tree Swallows on a morning walk with the dog.

Cool pictures of swallows Floyd & Ike!

Thanks for sharing them!
My swallows are making a big mess all down the wall and on the groung.
Yes, I saw this coming but I was just too kind hearted to stop them from building their nest.
I'm such a sucker for other living creatures!

Oh well, these guys leave in the fall. They go south for the winter months. I'll have some cleaning to do once they move on.

What worries me is that they will probably return with plans to build their nest here each year now.

Great pics of the Red Shoulder hawk. Can they ever fly through the woods. And are usually not very afraid of people.

Floyd, that is an excellent photo! I tend to overlook the Robin, they are so common in my area and usually hang around 12 mos/yr. Your picture reminds me what a handsome bird they are, nice post, sir!

Mr Oriole visited again today. Some say they drive the hummingbirds away but I don’t have that problem.

Thanks for posting the Oriole pic! They are in my area, but I can go years between sightings, just not real common around here. I occasionally see Orchard Orioles but they aren't nearly as striking.

I never put up feeders until last year but most years I see the Orioles around. One year they built a nest less than 10 feet from where I park my car.
I'm missing the goldfinches this year, haven't seen a one. Last summer they were frequent diners.
Hopefully one of these days I'll catch a picture of the hummingbirds
