Awesome pictures and what a loss of that old depot. I think that Santa Fe diesel is an FA2, it looks like my Lionel FA2s.

Redrider. Alco FA locomotive’s were 4 axle road switchers
Santa Fe never owned any. They did own Alco PA locomotive’s and they were 6 axles for pulling passenger trains. I think Alco PA’s in the Santa Fe War Bonnet paint were some of the best looking locomotives ever built!! Yes it was a sad day when Emporia Depot burned the fire gutted the inside. What was left, the brick and stone was torn down

I can relate. I come from a family of 4 generations of railroad workers and grew up in a railroad town. So I'm partial to B&O, WM RR and C&O, then Chessie and now CSX.

Yeah, CN has a couple of old IC locos locally that are still in the old paint. Pretty much on a daily basis, I will see them, or a GT, or CN locos hauling fly ash from a couple of coal fired power plants near here, and then the return trip.

All the pictures are so cool.
I hear the UP go buy up the block just about once a day. A lot of the time it’s running cars out of the Belvedere Chrysler plant. I’m sure we subsidized the reopening but it hasn’t reopened.
There once was a Dean’s milk plant down the street. They closed in 2017-2018. Before it closed one of my favorite things was watching them swap hopper cars. Use too be on Sunday morning usually I would be on my way home from Sunday morning hockey. Didn’t matter if I had to sit for ten minutes one minute from home.

Have you ever watched them load up the autos? I think that would be interesting to see.

Ike,
My son was sitting here with his old folks for a bit tonight. I showed him the pictures and the first thing he commented on was the way the Red stood out.
I keep checking it out. Wonderful shot.
