Here's what came today. Case 8201 from 1979. It is kind of a mixed looked between a 79,71 and 63. Pattern. I was surprised how good the fit and finish were and the blade pull is strong and a very snappy close. I wouldn't have gone near this if it didn't have nickel silver liners. This knife exceeds what I thought it would be. I wish I could get a Stag 5201 with nickel silver liners and pins with S S blades. I don't think they ever made them. This MOP is high quality because it's a sfo or something else. I think 1979 is when this first was made but later in 1981 they made available in catalogs to general public This and the 79 1/2 sleeve board were probably made in low numbers for certain retailers because at this time in 1979 Case didn't offer MOP knives at least in the catalog listings. In the 1970's Case MOP knives seem to allude some catalogs even though they made certain ones. Case MOP has always seemed to be special more limited than other stuff. Any more info on this this 8201 from 1979 would be appreciated. I talked to Katie at Case and Steve Pfeiffer and they didn't have any info other than it was offered from catalogs in 1981. My knife has the 1970's tang stamp and the others are 80's. I figure it was small run knife that got green lighted to be catalog knife for the 1980's after they saw that it and the 79 1/2 sleeve board both did well

Nice knife! Case seems to have always used very high quality MOP for their knives.

Jerry what I like about it is the pen blade has a hefty handle behind it for better control on small jobs.

6235 RAz, any concerns? Odd pattern, as discussed in another post this knife is documented on a few guides.

Hi all. Been reading these boards for awhile but never bothered to make a post till now. With the dumb blind luck I had today I couldn't resist. Long story short I was at the local sporting goods store today and noticed a somewhat beat up case box sitting on the shelf. It had a hefty layer of dust on it too which peaked my curiosity. Turns out it was a knife I have been wanting to get my hands on for a long time now. Inside the box was a brand new Chestnut Bone CV Swayback Jack.

Both blades are centered, great walk/talk and even the coloration on both sides matches perfectly. Gave it a dab of oil and now it's as good as the day it came off the factory floor. Should look great alongside my Coffin Jack. Just goes to show you never know what you will find in the back of some shop corner at times.

Nice knife, Carry in good health!
They made numerous variation of that knife, See that you like the oldies as do I. That said, CASE made a CASE XX STAINLESS (a XX era knife) with a secondary file blade also as I recall. I sold a mint example a while back. Just mentioning in case you were unaware of the option. I have many different 63s if you are interested but they may not fit your bill as they are newer stuff mostly or in handle materials you have or are not interested in. I have some oldies as I recall.
Regardless, good pattern as a backup (for me as watch pocket light duty) or Gentlemen's dress knife.
Here are my CASE pickups that arrived today.
Two old XX 35 patterns gently used Jacks. One is a XX 6235-1/2 with a closed C TESTED shield, no model number and great red "true" bone. Solid half stops, snap, the whole nine yards. The next is a XX 6325 with no shield and solid half stops, snap, the whole nine yards.
The red bone is these two knives is impeccable. No cracks, etc. The bone almost looks to be from the same batch.
Glad to get these two knives. Bought as EDCs. Already carrying them today. One in each front pocket after a quick slice thru paper honing.
These are interesting. Anyone see something in these? They are authentic. But some interesting attributes to each. HINT: Look at nail nick between the two as a start...
Sorry I am a bit wrapped up in work so response any be delayed but lets start there if you want. Up to you all.
Regards,Jerry

You lucky duck. That just shows to go ya, you gotta keep your eyes open all the time and on swivel stalks. Congratulations on a great find.

Fine looking knives gentlemen, nice variety being shown!
Jerry those two 35's are some nice specimens, with some beautiful red bone. As to your inquiry regarding peculiarities, are the nail nicks of a different size? Interested to hear further observations.
Here is my latest acquisition, one that I drooled over in Steve's store for a few days before finally pulling the trigger, and my first of this pattern. 10 dot 1970 6452, with half stops on all blades, and all nice and snappy...and how about that bone, eh?

Thanks Mike.
What a beautiful pickup you have there. Great bone. I have never carried a Congress. I would be interested in what you think as a carry knife.
As far as my knives, the nail nick do differ in size slightly. Still true to the knife and not fake. It is just the the 35 Spear was made for many reasons one can see on the knife, very early XX. Yet it has slightly (and I mean slightly) larger nails nicks which is unexpected. Maybe just the knives themselves and the days they were made, whom knows. But all the different characteristics and similarities between the 2 example I find interesting personally.
