Cuz I'm a fuddy duddy from way back. If those pellets are lead then no I don't suppose that's scour the bore like I was thinking they would if made from another material. I guess the only objections I could think of would be loading from the muzzle like that could cause some harm to the crown depending on what you used for a ramrod and how careful you were, or the rifling right at the end of the barrel.

The other thing is driving that lead pellet at super high velocities could cause some leading is done very much.

But, that said, it appears it isn't the risk that I thought it might be. I confess if you told me you were going to do it I'd be there I'd love to watch.

I know Monk - I went through a Magnum Phase for 25 years, at different times I have owned several (8 or 9) 300 WIN MAG's, 3 different 338 WIN MAG's, and one 458 WIN MAG - all gone now - my BIG GUN is a 30-06 SPRG. My favorite cartridge has always alternated between the 270 WIN and the 308 WIN - I still can't chose my favorite between them and alternate when I deer hunt (270 WIN one season, 308 WIN the next season). The 308 may be winning out because I simply love my M88 - a quirky Winchester levergun made from the mid 1950's until 1973 - mine is a 1963. Guns (like knives) are simply fun. OH

Monk that's another great addition to the Browning collection. ::tu::

Before you write off the magnum calibers completely, try shooting a BAR in 7mm Rem Mag. It's one sweet shooting cartridge. I tend to be a bit recoil sensitive, but the recoil on this round through the BAR is easy to deal with and not really noticeable when you're taking a deer. I've never hunted bear or elk, but were I to do so, I'd feel very adequately equipped with this rifle.

Know what ya' mean Phil** I think that 7mm will tame most anything walkin' around these parts, with ease** -- a 7mm. Browning Bolt action is what made me forget about the 7mm & other mag calipers,__ took a week for my shoulder to heal, after a day at the range ::shrug:: __ although the BAR should reduce the recoil quite a bit,as it did with my others**

Big Monk,
It's a shame you ain't down here in the Florida Panhandle, we've got about 4 weeks of rifle season left before we have to go back to M/L for a few days at the end of February. That Nikon 50mm ought to bring one up out of the dark shadows about sundown, so you could punch a hole in him with the BAR ::nod:: .

I traded for a Ruger SR9 the other day. It was in the plastic case with all the paper work but was missing the Magazine Loading Tool that is shown in the manual.
Made the call to the Ruger parts department, the kind lady took my order and said the part would be shipped tomorrow morning, no charge.
Just wanted to pass this pleasant experience along. I've had several Ruger firearms through the years and never had any problems with their firearms. I just say this as a "pat on the back" to Ruger for apparent good customer service! ::tu::

I've got a Ruger Mini-14. When I got it I took it out to shoot and found that after a couple of rounds, the rear sight would loosen up. I found an exploded view of the rifle and saw that a part was missing in the sight mount. Called Ruger and they sent the part No-Charge. I'm planning on getting my daughters each a Ruger LC9, my next purchase. Anyone interested in a Martin D-18 75th Anniversary guitar? $2500. MSRP $5100! MAP $4100, if you can find one. No. 13/119.

I had a blue steel mini 14 that would drive tacks. Later I had an SS mini that would have had a hard time hitting the side of a barn.... from the INSIDE!
