I'm with Ken - I thought I had a formidable Official Scout collection worth photographing and posting but I don't even find that Remington Girl Scout knife in any of my catalogs or books, unbelievable. Good thing I was wearing a fresh bib!

My thoughts on this knife ....
My first thought when I purchased this knife many years ago was it was a lunch box knife meaning it came out of the Remington factory custom made by one of the workers or possibly a one off special order piece .
Knife is all original even the patina . If you notice the bail it has no lines near the pin side so that would make it most likely made around the pal/Remington transition .
No pattern number and if it ever had one it would have been an ink type from that time period and easily lost .
I have studied this knife over very carefully and have shown it to a few big Remington collectors and all agree it was born with the handles that are on it .

Long time collector, new to the AAPK forums. However, I have shopped AAPK and picked up a few nice artifacts from the stores over the last couple of years. I thought I would post some pictures of my collection per Phil's suggestion, here is my display cabinet and some highlights:

I've seen knives for sale on eBay by an individual using the ID ronfish. Could that possibly be you?

When your ready I have lots of doubles I don't sell on ebay ... to much drama .

World War Two era Girl Scout knives .

Here are a few World War Two era boy scot knives I pulled out of the vault .

Very cool Scoutknives, I have a few in the box myself from PAL and Made in USA. Beautiful examples of the Kingston Official Scout, I am very jealous of that! I have yet to come across one is such nice condition with a clear etch, worthy of the diaplay.

First it was ScoutKnives making us all drool. Then along comes ronfish with more great scout knives. That's called piling on! welcome to AAPK! Some really wonderful stuff y'all are posting. Just curious, were either of you involved in scouting, either as Boy Scouts or adult scouters?
One if the reasons I collect scout knives is that I was a Boy Scout (made it to Life Scout rank) and later an Assistant Scoutmaster. I am proud to say both my sons are Eagle Scouts.

Thanks for the kind sentiments Ken and I agree, Scoutknives has cornered the market on the early scout knives! Great stuff! I was boy scout but did not have the opportunity to Eagle due to parents divorcing and ensuing relocations. I was a Den Leader for my youngest boy's Cub Scout Pack for a couple years. I love scouting, fishing, outdoors, etc (starting to sound like a dating ad).

I am still looking for another 4 blade Jack Knife Ben Junior Scout knife.

New York Knife 2 blade official Boy Scout

Here are a couple Ulster Knife company very early non official Boy Scout knives , very uncommon Be Prepared banner and propeller shields . 600 scout knives makes a note about these knives but no pictures and these are the only two I have ever seen .
Has anyone else ever seen or own either of these ?

I have been trying to talk an old collector out of one of those 4 blade Ulster's with the Be Prepared shield for a few years. Bail is still intact and not quite as well carried as your specimen. Very cool artifacts!

Awesome ronfish , any blade etch left on your friends old collectors knife ?
I would be very interested to know the history and how ulster was allowed to use the Be Prepared shield were these knives predate their Lisense to make an official knife .

No visible etch but there is some patina, so it is possible there is some trace under that. My understanding is that the 4 blade was unofficial as you suggested and the square notch on the screwdriver blade was for adjusting roller skates or auto lamps. Based on documentation I have read, indications are that "Be Prepared" was the BSA motto but the words themselves were not registered (at least at that time). Eventually, the BSA put a stop to all of the unofficial knives that used a "scout" reference. I believe that was in the War era......early 40's. These 2 knives are very early 1900's i suspect, probably teens or 20's if I had to guess.

Pretty sure I have all the official 4 blade scouts made by NYK except for genuine pearl .
