The notion of wrapping the handle occurred to me the moment I held it. However, it is surprisingly comfortable as is. A para-cord wrap would lend itself well to the bush/survival nature of the knife but could make the handle too bulky (although I have some pretty big mitts). So, I'm undecided and will play it by ear...

Sasq, my bet is you will be amazed at how well your CS knife holds it's edge. I own Chinese knives with a variety of steels. Even the $10 SanRenMu 0710 has a blade steel that edge holds longer than any Case i have used, TruSharp or CV.
Please be sure to post back after you have given it a few good 'work-outs'.

Here is I Buck 113 I recently re scaled for my wife. The wood is from a post oak that's 2-300 years old on land that's been in her family since 1872. Buffalo spacer and I swelled the bolster.

Though never particularly drawn to boot knives, over the years I came across two that I thought were exceptionally well done. One is a design for Gerber by the late Blackie Collins. This was made in the '80s not long before Gerber was taken over by Fiskar. I believe Gerber quality was notably better before the take over.
The second knife is a Robert Terzuola design for Gryphon Knives using VG 10 steel. Both knives came with well fitted hard sheaths allowing for quick access. Aside from custom made, I think these two are tied as best of breed if not best in show.

Post Oak is one of the white oaks in the south. It was/is considered to be not much use for anything but posts but I use it a lot of things, even in small furniture projects. It does tend to twist but this PO was stabilized.
Before creosote, the railroads used post oak for ties.

I have an old Gerber Mark 1 around here somewhere, it's the only boot dagger I own.

I decided to try a para-cord wrap on the Cold Steel Bushman and see how I like it. Wouldn't you know it....the only para-cord I have on hand is neon orange safety cord. I used it anyway and it actually doesn't look bad. If I like the way it handles with the wrap I'll switch to OD green or black.

I like the wrap. Probably because I can find things more easily that are brightly colored. Nice job.

From a survival view point the blaze para-cord is an excellent choice for it's high visibility. If you're trying to survive, it's pretty much a given that you'd like to be seen and assisted. From a bush craft point of view, sometimes one may not want to be so highly visible.....depends on who or what is looking!
Right now it's a toss-up in my mind whether or not to keep the wrap. Using it with the wrap for a while is the test.

about eight percent of men, according to one source, do not see reds and greens properly. I are one. I use blue or yellow surveyor tape to mark things. I cannot follow a blood trail. I can see large swaths of red and green in good light. Smaller patches or dimmer light and I don't do well.

Sorry to hear that TR. I grew up with a kid who was totally color blind. Didn't seem to slow him down much, he was our star third baseman on the high school baseball team.

Here is one I picked up today.Made by ERN in Germany. It looked like something was missing out of the front of the sheath (maybe a small knife)so I tossed in a little dagger I had laying around. $17.

That's a nice looking dagger Knife7knut! ERN has been around making knives since the 1920s.
Sorry guys, I just had to see how the Bushman would look with a camo wrap. The blaze orange was giving me a headache.
That's one thing about paracord wraps, they're easily changed. I got some new cord and this is how it looks now...

It's been a while since I did any knotting or wraps with paracord so I was fascinated by all of the colors and patterns that are available now!
I saw a couple of patterns that I like as much or more than the camo. Numerous projects came to mind as I was looking at the selection of cords....just what I need.....more projects while I'm in the middle of remodeling my house!
