An old Schrade Cut Co just rolled in and will ride along today with the Pal Stockman. The old Schrade bones are still in pretty good condition.

Iman, wonderful old bones.
GSPTOPDOG, a knice find. Does it have a release for the spike?
Thanks! I am a sucker for the old rope/rigger's knives. No release for the spike. I am cleaning it up and getting it ready for pocket duty.

I'm pretty sure that knife dates to between approx. 1955 to 1959. It might be 1947 to '59 but I'm not certain on what years they had stainless blades in them. They might have been stainless all along but the stainless blade wasn't actually mentioned in the catalogs until around "55. After '59 they started putting a lock on the spike.

Thanks! That is very helpful,

I would like a lock on it but I like the fact is most likely from the 50's

I'm not sure where Goins got those dates, but Schrade Walden was stamped on knives some time after the transaction to Albert Baer in the Spring of 1946 and continued to be stamped on knives until some time in 1973. The factory was actually moved to Ellenville NY to the old Ulster factory in or about 1958 but they kept using the old stamps for another (about) 15 years. Then, MANY years later they resurrected the Walden stamp for awhile on legitimate Schrade knives. Then, later still, after Camillus folded and quit making "Walden" knives for Stewart Taylor, who owned ALL the Schrade trademarks after the 2004 bankruptcy, other "Walden" stamps started showing up- Uticas, Bear and Sons, and Chico crap.

Got this one in the other day. A Schrade Cut Co. three line tang stamp Serpentine Jack. Listed in the Shcrade Catalogs as 2364-3/4B. It is 3-9/16 inches closd with a Clip master blade and pen secondary. This one was dirty and needed some cleaning. The pen blade had the tip nicked so I had to retip the blade. The Clip blade does have some wear, but has wonderful snap. The pen blade has some pitting, but also has great snap. The downside is, it does have black celluloid handles. But I see no signs of degradation or breakdown. But I have a designated spot for all my celluloid knives so I keep an eye on them. But I plan to rotate this in my EDC's.

That would be a great knife to carry. That black cell doesn't scare me.

This afternoon, this joined my pocket knife collection. It's a G. SCHRADE, single blade, cap lifter/bottle opener, all metal, 3" closed, advertising pocket knife. I bought this particular pocket knife because it is a "cousin" of the Allen Cutlery Company, the Eagle Knife Company and the other cutlery companies that manufactured pocket knives of a similar style/pattern. It needed a minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

That is a nice looking knife Skip. I can remember people opening gallon paint cans with those knives when I was a kid. Here is an automobile knife I picked up a while back. Still has a light etch.

VERY cool knife!
What was the utility blade meant to do?
Square hole.... then the very end looks too thin to be a can opener.
(Of course, I can see the can lifter as
very necessary when working on older cars!!)

The square hole is a wrench for the early acetylene headlamps.
