I saw this on ebay the other day and it peaked my interest. The Ponder Country Post Rider just dropped it off.

Colt CT457 Rosewood Handle Forged Steel Folding Knife Blade Length 3 1/4” Total Length 7-1/2”
Brass pins and inlay design on one scale.

To me it's a collector's knife not an EDC, but I guess it could be for some folks. In case anyone also saw this one on ebay, it was not the one for $49.

Interesting is a good word. I like the forged look to the blade and the little decorative hook on the end. Cool. ::nod:: ::tu::

I picked this knife up today at a consignment shop. I only noticed 3 things about it before I purchased it:
1) It was a Schrade
2) It was missing the shield
3) It cost $6 (does anything else matter at this point?)

Got home with it and looked it over only to realize that it is most likely a newer Chinese-made Schrade.
::facepalm::

Oh well, it is a pocket knife!
I may fill in the odd-shaped missing shield with some silver epoxy so that it doesn't look quite so gaudy. I don't often carry a Trapper, but it will either make a useful EDC or a gift knife.
I do occasionally find some poor soul who doesn't carry a pocket knife and give them an inexpensive one. Every man should carry a knife!

Given that it's a Christmas knife, I would opine that red stocking IS the shield.

The shield is missing, and someone inexpertly painted the hole red. There is even a little of the paint inside the liner! LOL!
I may do a little with it, but very little. It is a good user, but will never increase in value.

Fill the hole with clear epoxy. That will maintain the Christmas motif and won't show so blatantly that the original shield is gone.
Probably made by that company whose famous for their shields falling out (sorry I can't remember the name right now).

I just got this in a trade today and I am very happy with it. If only it was maybe a 1/2" longer and 1 oz. more heavy…. oh well... sometimes you just have to make due. As a side note, I have never heard of this maker and on-line searches have proved fruitless so far. Anyone heard of this brand? I also looked this up as a brand of files but found nothing.

Found this bit of info...don't know if it's related ::shrug::
Also, if you use the "search" feature (left side of page Quick Links)...search Enderes...there are 5 pages of posts associated with the brand.
"In 1908, Ernest Enderes founded the Enderes Mfg. Co. in Littleport, Iowa. It made tools, which were sold through the Albert Lea Machinery Co. in Albert Lea, Minnesota. One of the latter firm's salesmen was E. J. Pihl. "In 1916 Mr. Enderes relocated to Albert Lea, MN. He built a second factory building there in 1917, and a third plus an addition in 1920. One of the buildings was the "Knife and Cleaver Plant," also called the Harris-Enderes Knife Co. The knives were sold by Enderes, Inc. "In 1926 Ernest Enderes sold his interests in Albert Lea to E. J. Pihl. He then relocated to Guttenberg, Iowa, and there began to manufacture tools under the name "Original Enderes."

Thanks Dan..Thanks for the info about the Keen Kutter thread … in the near future I will post some of my Keen Kutter knives..I have a lot of other Keen Kutter items besides pocket knives… I fell in love with that tang stamp/trademark when I was a kid with my dad/uncle looking for antiques at the flea markets etc…My dad and my uncle always bragged about who found the first “gem” of the day then when I got older I couldn’t wait to find something first… The first time I did I snagged an aluminum Griswold ashtray before they seen it and they both walked past it somehow in there haste and I was proud as heck.. I was about 14 when that happened… My uncle try to buy it from me on the spot to tell my dad he found it!! LOL good times

Here is my latest arrival. This was the ebay description: Old Forge Folder, Ram's Horn Handle, Black Hammered Folding Knife 031, 4.5" closed. 3.25" black hammered finish stainless blade. Ram's horn handle. File worked backspring.

Now I have a couple of other Old Forge knives and they are decent knives, but this one is a disaster.
1st I question if it's real Ram's Horn, because I can see through it like a translucent material and when you look at a side view one looks like driftwood and the other like milled wood. It's not natural looking.
2nd On both ends you can see where the liners bend outward and the blade does not line up in the middle, as a matter of fact the last 1/2 inch of the blade bends very slightly.
3rd When you open the blade it is loose at the halfway point, but tightens up when fully extended.
4th I would say about the only thing that is good on it, is the backspring file work. This knife was made by someone that just didn't want to be at work that day and displays poor quality and craftsmanship.

Live and learn, buy and learn that not everything is as it appears to be. Another very good reason I need to get back out on the road.

Keeping the USPS busy.
The Schrade wire jacks are like chips to me. I can't resist as long as they're in good shape or if they fill a need.
The stag teardrop by Jeffery Mitchell is outstanding. Great w&t and the f&f is too. A drop smaller at 3 1/2" closed than I usually like but the blade more than makes up for that. An outstanding knife.
The black micarta wharncliffe from Rough Ryder deserves all the kudos it has received.

That Mitchell Teardrop Jack is gorgeous! Very nice.

I got a few today. Both 62 pattern GEC’s. Snakewood and the Burgundy linen Micarta. The Micarta surprised me, it’s such a deep color, it looks like an ebony knife, I really like it. Others have mentioned how nice the Snakewood is on this run and they weren’t lying.

Thanks. Did you grab the small hawkbill with the etch on Ebay the other day? They keep popping up so I've limited what I'll pay for them. I'm still hunting for an early small spear without the bottle opener, the small hawkbill with the Case tang stamp and I'd like another large spear. Got knives?

Been wanting one of these for a long time. Scott brought this one home and offered it to me at such a nice price I couldn't resist. Thank you Scott. I appreciate it buddy.

At 6" closed, it's a monster. The best part is the saw blade is not broken like it is on so many of them. BTW, do I have that labeled incorrectly? Should it be labeled as a "Pilot's Survival Knife"?
