It's not a tuxedo though, is it?

Aww geez. I knew better than that. What would I do without you to keep me straight? Good catch T.J. and thanks a bundle. I fixed it.

Yard sales were slow but I scored a Western-USA-w49-B bowie knife with original sheath 1978 what a BEAST was told it is a replacement of the WW TWO V-44

This one came in the mail recently. It's a 4-inch A. F. Bannister & Co double-end surveyor jack. The blades show some use, but the bone handles are perfect.

It did come from eBay. The pictures on eBay didn't show a lot of detail, but I could tell that the blades were just dirty and not rusted. The seller wasn't a knife guy so he was selling it uncleaned as found. That helped keep it in my budget. I was able to remove the dirt pretty easily without removing the patina.

I love it. I'll bet the seller didn't know it's a surveyor jack (I wouldn't have either. First I've heard of that pattern.)

I love it too, Jerry. According to Levine's, double-end jack knives were last made in quantity in the 1930s. The A. F. Bannister & Co knife dates to no later than 1915. He describes the surveyor jack as a swell-center canoe.
You're right about the seller not knowing what he had. All he knew about it was the maker, that it was big and old, and that it had belonged to his grandfather.
