Paul, that is one fine ol' Camillus 69!

Skip, what is the pattern number of your prize?
I received 2 Queens today thanks to Scott.
One is obviously a Barlow pattern #22 or #23, this one has the clip main blade and the other, a little tiny 2 1/2" pen knife. The little pen has rounded bolsters and according to my limited Queen info it could be a pattern # 5, 6, 7, or 8.

Help Bruno!
Both are real bone, the saw cut Barlow and then Winterbottom bone on the little feller.

The Camillus has no pattern number associated with it.

First let me say that I'm not making fun of TripleF (Bro. Scott) but I would like to share an amusing package that came today from West Central Florida:

: In the mailbox today was a manila envelope all wrapped up with the strangest bulge in the middle.

: When I opened the envelope I found a Tupperware container with a card board top, duct taped in place.

: Sho' nuff, real Tupperware!

: Inside the Tupperware among adequate bubble wrap and foam, I found a small ziplok bag full of foam wrap. Inside that were 2 Queens.

: 2 Queens with the sideways "Q"

Miss Joy wondered what had happened to the lid. Scott said he sells them on Ebay.

I must say each and every time I have purchased a knife from Scott it has been very well protected from damage that might occur in transit. Another knife came wrapped in a Nautica sunglass case, can't beat that for originality!

Been thinking this could be a knife type for me to concentrate on in my collecting ambitions (next to Case of course).
They show up kinda often on the bay with different amounts of blades, sometimes with scissors or clippers & at prices that don't hurt my budget that much. I'll be watching for these types of knives over the next few weeks to see what I can come up with.

Is there a name for this type of knife? Or a thread here for them?

TPK, you have a lobster pattern knife. "Lobster" refers to a folding knife in which the spring runs along the center of the handles allowing for blades on both top & bottom 'decks'. Some have 4 blades and some have even more. "Blades" is used to mean tools as well, like a manicure blade (nail file) or scissors. Handles can be stainless steel, gun-metal, silver, gold, ivory or pearl, or synthetic like celluloid.
These were a very popular carry knife for a 'gentleman' or anyone for certain occasions like church, wedding, etc. especially in Europe and a bit less so in USA. There are a great many vintage German lobster knives and many are high end originally very expensive knives made by the top manufacturers like Henckels and Hen & Rooster.
By WW II interest in lobster knives declined and now very few people are interested in carrying or collecting these. This means auction prices are usually very low for what is often an exquisitely made knife. If you like this style of knife you can build up quite a fine collection for not a lot of money.

Thanks for the information & for your time kj. It's good to here some of the history behind these knives. On the bay over here they are often listed as "gentalman or gentalmen" knives. Actually, I just got another one today. It's a Carl Schlieper Eye Brand & is in very good condition. I'm more intersted in American folders like Camillus, Case, Quenn ect. but it's almost impossible to find them used & at a fair price over here. Anyways, I'm in the middle of a trade deal with this one but if the trade doesn't happen to work out I would gladly add it to my little pile. I think I'll be collecting more of these in the future. Hope I find a nice Hen & Rooster sometime.

Wow ! That is a Schlieper "Eye Brand" knife. A very collectible manufacturer and a very good knife, ready for a picnic with the corkscrew.

Sure is. If you click on the second picture & enlarge it, you can see the stamp.

But I don't really like corkscrews on knives that much. If your not a wine drinker it seems like wasted effort.
A punch, some scissors or another blade are more my taste. I really like scissors on them for some reason or other.

However, I just had an idea.

I could see if one of those mini screwdrivers from a SAK knife would screw down into the corkscrews on so many German made knives. If so, I would find them a bit more useful. Not that I have ever needed one of those mini screwdrivers before but who knows.

LOL!

Maybe to tighten a screw on some mini scissors?

Tom, i too like lobster knives with scissors as it is a very helpful tool. Ebay.com (USA) often has vintage lobster knives listed and many have scissors and were made in Germany. You are in Germany so i would think they are very common there ?
Are there any restrictions on these little knives coming into Germany ?

I have started growing partial to these "Camper" or "Scout" style knives. This one is my first Western.

I found it at an antique store while looking for beaters and parts knives. At $15 it wasn't a steal, but it wasn't a bad price, either. With Delrin scales, I am guessing that it is from the mid 1970's?

The blades are all good and snappy. It has just a slight wobble on the main, barely noticeable, but all others are tight.
