Thanks fellers. I don't know why I haven't poked around this sub-forum before but there's a lot for me to read and look at!

Added 2 nice Schrade Cut Co auto's this week, a Paratrooper and a Schrade Hunting Knife saber clip which still has a faint etch, both knives fire strong and have perfect bone.
Gorgeous as usual. Wow you keep finding the kind of bones.

Thanks Roger and Ivoryman. I've only had a few of the peach seed jigged knives. I can see why collectors like them.

Most of my Schrades, being made in the late '70s-2003 don't really classify as old. But, I think this one does.

Picked up a cheap ($15) George Schrade's Stainless Hunting and Fishing Knife. I have been really curious about these. They're really lightweight, and slim too. The lock doesn't seem to work properly, but the blade still snaps great. Some wobble, but tapping the pin a few times should fix that.
KIMG3900.JPG

I have a couple of questions.

Is the backspring beryllium copper? It has a copper look to it. I understand most of the early stainless steels were horrible choices for backsprings because they tended to be brittle, and thus materials like brass were utilized if corrosion resistance was a big deal (and others used carbon steel--Camillus did through the end, even on stainless knives). And, I also know some of the Schrade automatic knives of the era had used beryllium copper for kick springs.

And, how is the lock supposed to work? I have to move the lock bar at the top into position manually, and it doesn't fully lock the blade; it can still close about a third of the way. I could swear a spring is supposed to make it stay in place, but am unsure.

I have several and none of the locks work right. The one I consider the best of the bunch only allows half an inch of play when it's locked. The last of these were made in 1956 right before Boker bought the company. Boker never made G Schrade slipjoints but they did take all the NOS knives that came with the sale and etched the blades Boker Tree Brand and sold them off. I wonder if they also flooded the market with factory seconds?

No idea on the beryllium.

This is most definitely my finest Schrade. And, it came from the POS Exchange. Good SCCs are expensive, especially in bone.

Schrade Cut Co. 3-1/8 penknife. It isn't stamped with a pattern number. Brass liners, nickel silver bolsters, pinned shield, and peachseed bone handles. Both blades are stamped.

There is a small defect in that there is a tiny chunk out of the pile side scale. Barely even noticeable.

This Schrade 808 small 2 3/4" stockman is my latest find. Pretty fancy tiny knife, don't recall seeing many with the jimped liners. The one picture shows it next to a Camillus deluxe stockman.

I love those tiny stockman’s. Good find.

I picked up a pretty decent shapleigh, made by schrade cut. It’s the same pattern as the SO8814NP that’s in the cut co catalogs. Very attractive knife with the slant bolsters and DE branding. Waterfall cell handles. It has an etch but is hard to see even in person.

Coincidentally I have another schrade made stockman with the same advertising. This one is keen kutter branded from the 1950’s.

I received these in the mail today from Roland, aka: Kootenay Joe. Very pleased with them. A few more additions to my Schrade family. Two qualify as being included in the Pony Jack Family. That being the Schrade 12OT Pal, and The Schrade 72OT Dogleg Jack. Both are 2-7/8 inch closed. The 72OT from what I've researched was produced with this tang stamp from 1986 to around 1992. Both have great snap.

The next three use basically the same frame of the small serpentine jack. A Schrade 219, a Schrade 18OT single blade liner lock Mighty Mite, and a Schrade 707UH Gambler with the Green Delrin handles, GREENWING shield and Ducks Unlimited blade etch. All have great walk and talk, tight blades with no wobble. These are all 2-3/4 inch closed. The 707UH Ducks unlimited Gambler is a great pattern to find with the scissors. All are great additions to my Schrade Family.
