That Robeson is sweet! Like that one a lot.
These were posted in the “newest Case pick ups” thread, forgot to put them here. These are from the CCC limited production run on both. The Trapperlock is a “Kickstart”in peach seed autumn jigged bone handles, only 455 made. The TB Sowbelly is Blue Smoked Kirinite and limited to 490 produced. Case never ceases to amaze me with their expertise at dyeing and jigging bone.

Those latest 2 posted are simply superb.

Got two knives delivered this morning, not by the mail man but by one of our neighbors.
Our dear neighbor is a widow lady, a bit younger than Miss Joy and me, she usually comes on Thursday and helps with the house cleaning. Well this morning I was helping another neighbor gather a bunch of Jalapeno peppers when our neighbor lady drove up. Later when I went in the house she said, " Mr. Phil, I want to give you these." She laid out two Queen folding hunters, one the single blade #44 that I had seen it before, plus she had a #39 also laying on the counter. The 44 was her fathers, the 39 was her step fathers and she wanted me to have both of them. Needless to say I was touched by her gracious gifts. I asked if her son might want the knives and she said he has a Case knife and he's not interested in old ones.
The 44 has a stamp that in some charts indicates it was made in '46-'48 era, others say '52-'55. Either way it has some age on it. I'd prefer it to be the '46-'48 closer to my year of mfg.

The #39 has the '58-'60 stamp like my EDC #49. I told her I would accept the #44 as a special gift from her since it was her father's knife but I would need to pay her for the #39.
The 44 needs a bit of maintenance work. There is a tiny crack showing up on the small end of the Winterbottom bone on the pile side that can probably be remedied with some super glue and the kick needs to be filed just a tad to lower the proud tip. The #39 has full blades but has suffered a bit from something more than a normal whet rock. The etch is still bright.
It is really special to have an old knife that you know some about the owner and some of what he did in our community.

Absolutely stunning cutlery everyone!!

Not worth mentioning what I picked up today. I've tried and tried, evidently I can't upload any pictures. I can only post text after X amount of attempts. So, I give up.

Hopefully when the powers that be get all the bugs worked out, I'll try again. This is frustrating to say the least.

I'm really happy with this HOK - a Queen City script stamp on a #10 Heavy Duty Jack with black jigged composite handles. I was worried about this one because there were no other bids on it, but as far as I can tell it looks legit and the blades still snap. I don't normally buy older knives, but I really wanted a Queen City script stamp!

Today, I picked this up at the post office. My second Imperial Scout knife, but my first with this style shield. It also has a different tang stamp. I gave it a light cleaning to make it a bit more presentable and here it is. The last picture shows the difference between the two shields.

Rotten - I have a Ka-Bar with what I think is the same tang stamp, and according to my notes, it might be 1955-65? Unfortunately, I don't know where I got that information, so take it with a grain of salt.

Cannon #2 has the same sloppy half stop, however the blade is sharper.

~Q~ was kind enough to sell this Mini-Trapper to me. Some malarkey about there being a 'W' in the pattern number but the secondary blade not being a Wharncliffe was worrying his monkey. Thanks monkey. Never would have gotten it without your help and thanks for the knife ~Q~.

Comment on the Queen that TFL posted, I consider that one to be a HOK! The tang stamp chart show that one to be from the 1937-1945 era.
TFL, there ain't nothin' wrong with buying an older knife.

Thanks Treefarmer! I just want to make it clear that the only reason I don't normally buy older knives is because I don't feel I'm smart enough to buy older knives without running the risk of being ripped off. Well, that and because normally they are all out of my price range!

If I had not found several old posts with pictures of Queen City #10 knives that looked almost exactly like this one, I wouldn't have risked it. So, to everyone: Thank you!

Wow!!! "Queen City"??? Never heard of that Stamp before. My home town Cumberland, MD is nicknamed "The Queen City" because it used to be the second most important city in MD. I think the king was Baltimore. Anyways, I guess I need one of them now as well. My list just keeps getting longer & longer. Glad you posted those pics.

Titusville, PA (former home of Queen Cutlery) was also known as "Queen City". A quick google returned this:

Queen City is a city which is the largest in a country, state, province, or territory, but which is not the capital. For example, the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, is larger than the state of North Carolina’s capital of Raleigh. Some cities which fit this description are rarely referred to as "queen cities," while for others it has become commonplace to speak of them by this nickname.

Cool! I also found this about Cumberland on Wiki.:

My first WESTERN U.S.A purchased from Mr. Pfieffer arrived last Thursday . Didn't realize how large it is , very well built and hefty .

Those are beautiful knives Treefarmer and a very nice story. Those are the kind of finds I like when you get to know some of the history behind them. I always make history notes in my register of knives too.
