I have no idea RR I couldn't see the engines in the gloom, it a decent phone photo considering the conditions, I was surprised that it turned out at all at that distance.
Great photos Ike we got to see one of the Bigboys in Cheyenne Wyoming a few years ago, pretty impressive chunk of steel, there are photos somewhere.

Thanks, Steve, BH, and Floyd. I saw it 3 years ago at one of the stops that it made, creeping in and out of station. I think I liked this look better even tho it was only for 5 seconds, it was cool to see it blowing by and hearing the whistle as it flew down the track. Thanks, Steve for alerting me about the tour.!

Well you definitely wouldnt be the only one to come in from out of the area. Today, I was in an spot which most visitors wouldn't find, so it was pretty much all locals. However, the last time around, I saw license plates from all over.

It would be awesome to catch it further West in some wide open scenic countryside.

It definitely rumbles by. I will attach a couple of pictures from 19 when it went past. It does come a bit east of the Mississippi at least once in a while. The other day. The way too book the trip would be to catch it near Chicago and then go spend a Day out at Union train museum.
Like the people today I was probably too close so were a bunch of us.

If you train people would like to check out another cool steam engine tourist train. I did not book this year later this month

Friends of the 261 first time I saw steam on the main line back between 2003-2005.
Google it and it will come up.
I think I will get Miss Lori to ride the 261 next season this year they are running from MSP to Chicago.
That being said the sister 265 was at the museum of science and industry until it got moved to union il. I heard it was a project when it got to union they had to beef up track.

I was reading at friends of 261 and they took a shot at union saying their trains were not parked outside somewhere rusting away. I have heard that before. Union has a ton of equipment. They have put roof over more of it.

I was reading up on the info you posted, Steve, that would be a good excursion that could be done close to home. I have Union on my list, as well as the museum at Green Bay.

Here is a pic I just took from my truck window. Ho-hum subject matter, but I liked the overall look with the sky, and going into the late day sun.

This restaurant was formerly a train station. It is located in Gravel Switch Ky. We stopped in for lunch this afternoon and were highly impressed with the food. Delicious.

One of our favorite things to do is eat. Always better when the food is good.

So, I was watching an old Lauren Bacall and Charles Boyer movie, " Confidential Agent". It is set in pre WW2 England. In one scene within a railroad station, I noticed a calendar on the wall which featured the legendary, and arguably most famous loco ever, the Flying Scotsman.

I just did a 3 mile hike on the WMSR and found 17 old Western Maryland Railway spikes. Anyone need one? Hiked from Cash Valley Road down to Bone Cave and back.
