I believe this is the first ball they have put on. Being a Vet myself, I think it is a good cause. The blade is forged 1080 with a G 10 camo type handle and a black leather sheath with tie downs. The blade is my copy of a Western W-31 parachutist knife made in the late 1940's. ::tu:: Terry
Great work Terry. And a good cause as well.

Very special Dan Graves Damascus Bowie. He rarely makes big knives, most have about 4" blade. This one is a show stopper !

Armadillo hide...we call them Texas speed bumps. But it sure looks good on that knife.

Yes, it is the top part of the scabbard. The blade is within; the circular guard with handle are locked in the sheath. Pushing a very small fixture beneath the handle near the guard releases the lock for easy removal. The following photo is of the sheath near its tip. The sheath is metal precluding the warping over time of the traditional lacquered wooden sheath. In the islands of the South Pacific wood would have quickly deteriorated.

These two belong to Sundog, and were made by one of our local knife makers Calvin Klein (no not that Calvin Klein, no blue jeans here). The steel is ATS34 with some nice file work on the spines. The handles on both is buffalo horn. The sheaths are also handmade by Calvin.
This one is 8 1/4" overall length.

Truly beautiful work. I especially like the treatment of the bolster. Does Mr. Klein have a web site?

Yes, he is right here in Sioux Falls. I don't believe he has a website, but if you google Calvin Klein Custom knives Sioux Falls, SD you will find him. Disregard all the hits you get for Calvin Klein jeans. LOL!!

OLDE CUTLER wrote:This is really strange, I had never seen one before. It is a Saladmaster 205 hunting knife with sheath. Wouldn't you want to be seen out in the woods hunting and carrying one of these on your belt. If you catch the sun just right you could suffer permanent eye damage. Blade is stainless steel, handle appears to be chrome plated cast aluminum. Hmm, wonder if anyone collects these?

They made Bowies also and they say James Bowie or such-some are mounted on boards some come with a leather sheath. I don't know the time frame.
I've never seen one like yours tho.
