All About Pocket Knives

I caught that fever about 20 years ago. The fever never breaks so you will constantly crave more. I’ve warned people before that Moki’, Mcusta’s and Al Mars are addictive, I should add several other brands to that now like G. Sakai, Hiro, Aristocrat and the Cattaraugus and A.G. Russell Japanese made knives.
Both very nice additions.

The original Moki Kronos with the ACSB is still one of the finest Iman. Beautiful.

Didn't know it was an original either, was way late to the party, they had been out for years. I had no idea I even wanted one. Until years later, I saw one and couldn't stop thinking about it. The siren sound was belting it out as I happened to be admiring one that day drooling over pictures of someone else's, right here on AAPK. Then it was hook, line, sinker, sucker caught again. Thanks again.

If it's the smaller model, it's the 533, I-man, that is if it's the knife I'm thinking it is, am I correct, Mark?

Correct Mark. The 433 is 4” closed and the 533 is 3 5/8”.

Got a new Moki to add to the collection. Another Serapis, this time with pearl and different dots of other shells of what looks like spines oyster and black or gold lip pearl.
Updated photo of the Serapis collection. You cannot beat the Japanese when it comes to inlay on knives. They do a remarkable job.

What could anyone not like about such beautiful knives, Mark, certainly not me!

When I looked at your group picture again, Mark, the word "luscious" immediately came to mind. I think that's how I'll describe them from here on.

Recently picked up some beautiful walnut display cases from a fellow AAPK member. Finally got all or almost all of my Moki collection under glass where I can enjoy it and boy do I like looking at this display case. Such works of art. Only have my doubts about a few of these and whether they were made by Moki or not, both stag handled ones and the A.G. Russell pinched peanut with mammoth ivory covers. So hard to find out where these Japanese knives were made sometimes.

I don't know how this can be, but your knives look even better in this thread, Mark, it's almost too much to look at.

Two more Moki made knives to add. Both are branded Beretta but made by Moki. The larger one is the “Kingfisher” pattern. Can’t figure out what to call the smaller one, reminds me of a tad pole so I might just call it that. Both are hair shaving sharp with smooth deployment. The Kingfisher has Micarta handles, and the blue tad pole has anodized aluminum handles. This blue one is one I am sorely tempted to carry, it’s the perfect size for me. Notice the perfect centering of both knives. Moki really does it right.

Very nice, Mark, I would be tempted to carry either, but I like the "Kingfisher" just a tad more. Both knives definitely have a "Beretta" vibe for me, with a bit of "Fury" brand tossed in due to the rise in the blade where the stud goes, but there's certainly no denying the Moki centering. You didn't mention or show the "run-ups", but I'll assume they're the usual Moki tolerances. I like these 2, Mark, thanks for posting them.

Thanks Mark. I forgot to photograph the run up. The Kingfisher is the only one with a run up since the tad pole has no back spring. Yes it is tight as usual. Maybe I can get caught up on all the threads I’ve been missing. Having a new roof put on for the last 3 weeks. It’s been a big inconvenience, but boy did they do a great job. No gutters yet but that will be tomorrow.

You have a beautiful home, Mark, you and deserve every bit of what you have, your friendship and great attitude toward life should be rewarded thus. Looks like there's plenty of room for the "pack" to roam around, too. God bless you, my friend.
I spent a summer replacing rooves with a buddy, it was hard working lugging those 100 lb. bundles of shingles up those rickety ladders.

Thanks Mark, I spent two summers in high school building houses and roofing was a job I did like doing. Funny how the heat never bothered me back then like it does now.
We used a company called “Stormy Ridge”. All Amish workers. They did an amazing job. This roof is aluminum shake. Vermont slate is the color. It looks like a different color under different light throughout the day. When the sun hits it at an angle, it has a shade of blue. Straight above and it looks like slate. I got a picture yesterday late in the day and it had a slight shine to it. Amazing material. It will long outlast me and the bride of my youth.
