That knife is in great shape Peanut. James that whittler is awful nice too. I stumbled upon a Honk Falls while back. I know I am a lucky dog but sometimes it feels like work when they are few and far between. Has a crack at the front pin.

Picked up a couple of bareheaded jacks recently. The harness jack is 3 3/4 and the other is 4 1/4

Thanks guys! Scott, totally agree about the mark. Most stamps have the top of the K very close to the bottom of the H. There is a bit of a gap on some stamps. These may be from the period after the factory burnt down. Honk falls knives continued to be made. One of the principles John Cushner installed a generator and converted a barn on his property. Later after Winchester went into receivership he started using the Napanoch mark once again. Coincidentally the old Napanoch factory burned the same day the stock market crashed. Anyway if you look back in this thread you can see some papers I posted that prove honks falls continued after the old napanoch factory burned. This is contrary to all previous accounts. I have found that much of the info about Honk Falls knife co. Is inaccurate.

Here are examples of three stamps. The first one is the harness jack. The second is a knife I consider to be suspect and the third is one I consider to be reliable and authentic. Hope this helps if you come across a knife and need something to reference. This study is still a work in progress for me but I have accumulated quite a few and have observed many more. Still there are many more knowledgeable collectors out there who can read a knife really well. Still learning. Thanks to everyone who has posted knives here to help the process.

Scott, after speaking to some folks here on AAPK and looking at the size of a similar pattern offered by Napanoch I believe the harness jack is not an authentic example. Jay, I think we all have been burned at one time, any way you can return the knife? Like you said ,It's a lesson that will make you look at a knife a little harder.

Thanks guys. Dan thanks for the kind words about the knives. I will get over the harness jack. My own fault really. I was trying to hard and ignoring some obvious red flags. Not the end of the world. Thing that gets me is one person bid it up at the last minute. Hate it when that happens. This is what makes eBay sucky. Maybe all you guys should sell me your Honks. That would elevate all the stress lol.

A little history from some of my research. Very happy to say, after a long hunt I am finally the owner of this auction booklet. One of the things that makes this significant is the name that appears partially on the front and then complete on the back. Which is John Cushner, owner of the Honk Falls knife Co. He was also a long time employee of the Napanoch knife Co. previous to that. The only other markings are three x’s next to some items. These would of course indicate what he would have been interested in going after. Attached is a pic of one of these scales. Some of you may know that metal stamping machines were mounted on a carriage which allowed them to be tilted back. This was done so the part, after being stamped would fall back out of the way and into the bucket. The way they counted the parts was by weight, hence the need for the scales. The thing that brings this together is the article posted here which indicates the intention to stamp parts beyond what was needed for in-house knife making. This is just a small piece of the Honk Falls story but I know some members here enjoy the history as much as I do so I wanted to share it here.
