Well, after scrolling through all 15-pages of this thread, I've seen literature on this knife but no actual picture of the knife. I picked this one up off Ebay this week and expect delivery today or Monday. From everything I've read it seems to be a pretty rare bird. 1924-33 Remington R4548 Electrician's/Radio Knife with cocobolo handles. Sorry for having posted so many pics in so many threads, but I am really liking this knife.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if the blade on this Winchester is supposed to have a "serrated edge" on the tip . Or was this done by a previous owner. A few pages back, I see one posted by orvet, I believe, but it does not have the same blade. Any thoughts?

Looks to me like the blade has been chipped, not serrated

Someone modified the blade, it looks like the tip was broken off and then those "serrations" were added.

I use to have a Winchester electrician`s knife but I could never find it again

That happens a lot to me lately .

Tim, that old knife may have been owned by a "real electrician" who hit a hot wire more than once ! The blade is pretty raggedy its' whole length, the 1st couple of serrations are almost identical then it goes downhill . Still worth having .

Empire Electrician's Knife

Just pulled this one off Ebay. Again, out of my comfort zone price wise, but I thought that I needed it. This is the seller's description: "3 5/8" CLOSED, Marked EMPIRE WINSTED CT,ETCHED "EMPIRE KNIFE CO'S ELECTRICIAN KNIFE" IT'S A LITTLE FAINT,LIGHT TARNISH,GOOD SNAP,LOCKING SCREWDRIVER,EMPIRE ON SHIELD,NICE ROSEWOOD HANDLES" Should go well with the Remington R4548 I bought a week or so ago.

Again a very attractive sparky! Sometimes it makes sense to step out of the comfort zone.

It does, Cappy, just that I don't want to get used to it. My wife tolerates the $12-15 knives but I don't know how long she would put up with these.

That's a cool one Dog Radio knife?? Never heard of XELA before but Goins says it was a trademark of M. Klien.

I received the knife this morning. Knife appears to be unused with a faint, but visible etch on the mark side. Pushing down on the main blade unlocks the screwdriver blade, though I have to say, it is difficult to say the least. On either side and on the end opposite the blades, it is stamped "ROBECK", which is probably the company that originally owned the knife. There are scratches on the main blade but to me, they appear recent. At least they didn't use a grinder. I am happy with this one and it will go well with the Remington.

Another Sparky has reached me today. This time it´s a Schrade Walden. I particularly like the shield.
