You know, it's great that you captured what you could LT, but what a profound sense of loss I felt as I went through those pictures! Dispersed, likely never to be gathered again.
I exhausted a sum of money trying to put together a meaningful collection, but had to slow down when my "plastic" crashed and burned. Now I'm selling my other collections to dribble in a few more, but I will never come close to preserving a tenth of what I see here.
Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it!! I won't forget!!

Thanks Charlie I appreciate your saying that. That is what I was trying to express when I first made mention of the collection. Truthfully no one can imagine what was in the big back room it was amazing . Oh well for a while I got to play in the big toybox that is more than most ever get. LT

It is hard to comprehend the amount of knives in that room. It must have been overwhelming to walk into that room!

And you say this was only a part of the factory collection! I can understand why you were so upset when they got the collection for a song, under the pretense of keeping it together, and then made millions by breaking up the very collection they had pretended to want to keep intact.

I do not know on the hard drives but I believe I can build a small extension on the house with the amount of full ( unlabled floppys ) which are rapidly filling the house. Do these things propagate it seems that way. Hey Larry send your address again for the hundreth time so i can send these to you or meet me at foxwoods I will bring them with me when I go up in a few weeks when the weather clears. Maybe I can get lucky ( one way or the other ). LT PS I would like to add my 2 cents to yours Dale still aint worth a plug nickle but it doubles our poke. PPS all those factory pics were regular hard copy photos I had to take dig pics of the pics on floppys it took like 3 hours. I guess that ias why I never did it before.

Thanks for the heads up on the article.

I met B.K. Brooks at the OKCA show last year. He had a nice display of Schrades there. In fact I posted some pictures of his display here recently in another thread.

He is a pretty nice guy and a full blown Schradaholic!
If I see him this year I will invite him to join us here at AAPK.

No, I won't have a table. It is too hard to see the whole show when you are stuck behind a table.
I will be buying material for making knives. I am hoping to find some nice stag this year.

Here's a nice little collection of Schrade Cut. Co. budding/grafting/florist knives. They have ivory celluloid handles, and salesman numbers on the back. Nicely made, considering they were a utility sort of knife. Will we ever see this level of quality in such a humble knife again??

I belive the answer is NO but I am WRONG most of the time.
Those days are gone. Just like many old things from the past.
That's one big reason I think we collect OLD things from the PAST.
Not all things from the past are better. Take the car. It's nice to see them up close and drive them. But they will not take the abuse we give our cars today. 100,000 miles for a tune up ?? 7,500 mile next oil change??
70 to 80 MPH every day just to get to work. 28 MPG ?? When was the last time you had a BLOW OUT? not a flat like now days. Just to say a few. ::blah:: ::blah::

Back to knives. You sure have some nice ones I have not seen

I think you are right Charlie, I don't think we will ever see that kind of quality in a utility knife, especially one made in china. What we will get are cheap knives that take a utility razor blade, which aren't as sharp as the old Cut Co were.

I have one of those Cut Co grafting knives that snaps like a bear trap, after all these years!

Every single blade snaps nicely, Dale. They're just great knives! The cell has shrunk slightly, but it almost always does.
