What do you think about the ""acrylic"" scale or the ""wood"" scales ??????? ----they had another wood scale ""wenge wood ??""it was black, like the black gold ,that I finally picked--but didn't know ??????? what's your opinion???

First let me say big monk I haven't seen or yet alone touched any GEC product, been out of the game for the better part of 15 years and the few places I've been since I joined AAPK just look at me like "whats GEC". If and when I get my hands on one my guess is I'm going to be so impressed with the quality that any handle material is going to be fine as long as its pleasing to the eye,my eye. With that said acrylics, cell.,wood are secondary in my personal preferences, horn, bone being first. Based on my past experiences in this hobby if I see a pattern I like and its available in mutiple handle materials,I'll buy it in my first preference then pick it up later in my secondary choice if still available,if not then I at least got my preference. Of course all this flys out the window if you suffer from ODO my friend.....Order Disorder ,of which I've been known to be afflicted with........... LOL!!

I personally like natural scales and would pick them over any manmade material...IMHO. 8)
I think most of us feel the same.... ::shrug::

Some great looking knives, big monk! ::tu::
I'm very fond of natural materials. They often have a beauty and "uniqueness" hard to obtain with synthetic materials. On the other hand, man made materials can be both light weight and virtually indestructible and that is a good thing too, especially if we're talking users.
And man made does absolutely not have to mean ugly!

Big Monk, those are some beautiful knives - especially like that Un-X-LD Furtaker in stag.

Here's a new / old Empire Harness Jack in ebony - circa 1856-1930. Figure this one is after 1900 or so. I literally just broke my thumb nail opening that punch blade to take the picture. I love the way these old ones snap!

Those are some beautiful Northfield stag knives!
GEC's stag is so much better than what Case is putting on their knives today that they really can't be compared.
I ordered a couple 73s and a 23 today.
The new Sunfish will be out in late August and I'm hoping that there'll be an offering in stag.

Here's another one that fell off the ol' conveyor belt of financial missgivings.
I think this is a cool old Imperial. It's 5 inches long and only 3/8" wide, and snappy.

Also with an old cousin. I like these knives. What's wrong with me?

I wouldn't have given them a second look before, but since I'v joined AAPK I have truley had my eyes opened and now appreciate a much broader view of knives. Which has cost me a lot more money, by the way. Really, I'm having a great time with it all. The only thing I would change is that I had more knives.

I can't tell you how impressed I am with all the really fabulous knives you guys post on here. Absolutly remarkable!

Really nice Imperals Joe. I'm having a hard time understanding why the solid bolster, solid handle Imperials don't get any respect. Look at those swedged blades. Clamshell, I get. They even looked cheap to me when I was a sprout but the ones like those two...

This one was waiting for me when I got home. The previous owner took great care of it and even got a light patina started. My first large Sodbuster ... can anyone tell me who manufactured the 2006 MM Sodbusters?
