There it the better kept version of the one I posted.
Thank you, that confirms that Schrade did use that type clevis, (just one of the many things I didn't know about the old Cut Cos.)

Well, I do have a clevis like that, so when I get the handle repaired I can replace it.

Thanks for sharing it! ::tu::

I picked up this 881 for $4.00. It cleaned up pretty nice, but the blades are all used up. ::hmm::

It has been around awhile, thought some might want to see it again. This artificial winter light is horrible for photos, they are what they are.

I have some unused 881's still in the tubes... Ken

Hi all, Here's one I haven't seen before.
It's a Schrade Walden 836.
It has 2 blades one end on seperate springs and the main
blade other end opens on both backsprings.

Gary.

Awesome Gary.
The 836 was a Schrade Cut Co pattern that was carried over into Schrade Walden when Albert Baer bought Schrade Cut Co.

Here is a cut from a 1948 Schrade Walden catalog, notice that it is still listed with the Schrade Cut Co number: 8364 3/8B. I have seen the 836 in the catalogs up until 1958. After that is was dropped from the catalogs.

I have not seen one like that before.
Since it has not been made since 1958, I doubt there are many around.

Definitely a rare find! ::tu:: ::tu::

How come they wouldn't call that a "Whittler"? ::shrug::

They just did not use that term, for whatever reason. I see they called the 804 a mechanics knife, or a carpenters knife. I attribute it to marketing.

http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/ ... W-CATS.pdf

In this 1954 catalog, there is an 837, same pattern with bone handles, and it's called a "Whittler". They called the 836 a "Serpentine Pattern" this go around. Just inconsistent descriptions.

Here is one I have had as a project for a while. The shield was solder someone had put in the hole where the shield had been, but the handles are beautiful red bone once I got the crud off them. I finally found a shield for it and cleaned out the solder and glued in a new shield after deepening the recess. I left the heavy patina on the blades to protect them from rust. It makes a nice EDC! ::tu::
